Spew Off Speak Out...
_____________________________________ In fairness to the ancient one, he really said "1 year felt like 10 - much like Green Bay for many years". I interpret that as a slam at TT (i.e., the years prior to that were great). I'm not a big TT-basher, but I think BLF is. Tough to say at this point, but some encouraging signs in the draft. Let's crush the North and on to the SB! Pabs Hey Pabs, BLF sez alot of things, most of them contradict each other, but then, I don't think BLF has ever said something positive about TT or how he does things. In a backhanded way he once said in 2007 that this "was the best team I've ever been on", but then he's said that about the vikqueens too, and well, the real best team he was ever on is the SB31 Champions Green Bay Packers... BK
_____________________________________Say it loud, say it proud. Cheesedicks Rule! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jim _____________________________________ What a class act Farve is!!! "1yr in MN is like 10 in GB" What a slap in the face of the team, city, coaches, players, and all the stupid fans(like me) who ever supported him. I can't believe I was that stupid. This guy is the master of "ME". If he goes into the hall as a viqueen it's ok with me. The guy brings narcissism to new heights!!! dfarmer Actually dfarmer, would you _____________________________________ Here we go again. With the draft being over and the regular-season schedules being announced, the Diva's gotta get himself some airtime once again. This just provides another convenient excuse for him to miss all the mini-camps (and training camp), as he'll be "rehabbing" from this surgery. It would be comical, if it all weren't so very, very sad... (nice back-handed slam he throws at Green Bay in here, btw) http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/blogs/92505659.html?elr=KArksc8P:Pc:UthPacyPE7iUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU #66 Chica _____________________________________ Dear Dave, the comment that TT is an idiot causes 1 to question your intelligence but your position that he will "always be" means that if he drafts 7 pro-bowlers every year your mind won't change!! sounds like your the village idiot... dfarmer
_____________________________________Wait a minute. Ted Thompson is now being looked at in a positive light? I must have missed the memo on that one, because to me he still is, and always will be, the Village Idiot. Dave Barr _____________________________________ The Packers already HAVE lots of "character" guys who are team leaders - guys like Charles Woodson, Donald Driver, Greg Jennings (and previously, Kampman, of course). There is no shortage of "heart" or "character" on this team. TT has gotten rid of all the slugs and losers that Mike Sherman not only kept around, but gave contract extensions to (Cletidus Hunt, anyone?)... As for the "Wildcat" *rolling my eyes* ...Don't get me started on that. We don't need trick or gimmick plays. I'm happy with the draft this year. It remains to be seen of course, but I bet Ted Thompson chose at least two guys who will be starting at their positions by next year. #66 Chica _____________________________________ No offense to Boz, but Tebow....seriously?!?!
Okay...now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's play some football. CJP _____________________________________ BK, About your "Tebow might be an upstanding gentleman, but his presence isn't needed on the Packers." comment: Tebow would fit in and not lead the team, just help to set a tone. I'm sick of slugs like Ahmad Carroll, Jamal Reynolds, Justin Harrell... I'd rather chew a guys ass out any day, any time, for trying too hard or being a leader on the team, instead of having to put boxing gloves on his hands to "stop him from holding too much"... Boz _____________________________________ Seriously, I wanted Tebow on the Packers, regardless of who else was available. You know the cohesiveness he'll bring to the team. He'll make other players play better. I want him:
Boz Hey Boz... geez you really wanted a backup QB to be the leader of the Packers this year, and next year, and the year after that? Tebow might be an upstanding gentleman, but his presence isn't needed on the Packers. BK _____________________________________ |

Speak Out Spew Off...
Now to catch-up on about 3 weeks with of comments that this absent administrator needs to clear from the moderation queue... It's also pretty cool that rookie OT Brian Bulaga can crank out home-runs, as his performance at the Milwaukee Brewers batting practice has shown, it's probably not going to help him much in performing his football duties, but damn, we all know who's going to be batting cleanup in the Packers charity softball games that are sure to come. BeerKid - Always Pack 4 Life! _____________________________________ Great article here! Packers on the cusp of greatness GO PACKERS! Todd G. Hey Todd, yes a good article on some of the short-comings of GM Ted Thompson when one considers his "winning games" philosophy vs. "winning championships". I believe that Packer fans would have been more forgiving than any other NFL team of the "crash" following a "go for it" attitude in trying to win it all if it was explained that that was indeed what was going on in the Packers front office. BK _____________________________________ While I have always considered TT to be an excellent GM, blameless (at least until Brett's and TT's biographies of those years is available) in the Brett situation, an opinion that caused more than a little bit of flack on Packer boards, my own bashing of Brett is over, done out of sheer bitterness. As i mentioned last year, as a Packer Backer since 65, the highest compliment I can give Brett is he is my favorite Packer ever, a remarkable accomplishment given I am old enough to remember Bart, Ray and the rest. Ray Brettman Hey Ray, sounds like you must have read that same article that Todd G. (above) sent in... BK _____________________________________ I had so many clever and witty lines (sans the ones for jeff) but I just hate this time of year waiting for the season. Pro-bowl till Pre-season might as well be Purgatory!!!! GO PACKERS. shut-up.....oh never mind I'll try ta be patient. Big Ern said so!!!! Hey Big Ern, it's purgatory alright... if not outright an off-season hell we're stuck inside of. BK _____________________________________ Buck Frett. That is all. foundinidaho _____________________________________ http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_15000487?source=rss - Tom Powers is just plain delusional, on so many levels. Where do I start? 1. "After all, Favre is especially loyal to people who are loyal to him. Which, by the way, rules out the Packers. So don't go there." There isn't an organization (along with its fanbase) that was ever more "loyal" to a player than the Green Bay Packers were to Brett Favre. He RETIRED. Hello?? Truth? Ever heard of it? 2. "There's no way he would let the Vikings pass on all the available quarterbacks if he weren't intent on returning. His overall experience was so pleasant here last season — including crunching Green Bay twice — that he simply wouldn't leave the organization high and dry. Favre would have told Childress much earlier if he weren't coming back so the team could prepare." He played 17 seasons in Green Bay and spent the last 3 or 4 waffling as to whether or not he would return - saving his decision in some cases until after the draft. I hate to break it to the enamored-with-the-fantasy-image Tom Powers, but if #4 never cared about whether or not he left the organization that MADE him what he became "high and dry", it's safe to say he's not overly concerned with what the team he's been with for all of one season does if he doesn't show up. Let's get this straight: #4's time in Minnesota has absolutely nothing to do with "caring" about the Minnesota Vikings, and everything to do with Brett Favre (including and especially carrying out a grudge borne of his own egocentric dependency issues). 3. "With any other quarterback, the team has no real shot." This is an amusing, telling statement. All that talent ... Adrian Peterson... yaddy ya ... And with the short windows that exist in today's NFL... It all boils down to one player. One 41-year old player. As I said before, "This won't end well." 4. "Here's a sure hall of famer who is willing to teach and share his experiences." This is laughable. Tom Powers - what rock have you been living under? Brett Favre has never "taught" another qb anything. Indeed, he stated infamously a few years ago, that it was "not his job to tutor Aaron Rodgers." Brett Favre has absolutely zero interest in mentoring, "teaching" or otherwise helping a "protege". I repeat: It's about Brett Favre. It's the Brett Favre Show. And nothing else. 5. "What really bothers me is the fact that they appear to have no medium- or long-range plan in place at quarterback. There is no quarterback in training. There is no long-term successor being groomed. Nothing. Nada. Zippo." Welcome to our (I say "our", because...) former world. The same scenario used to bother me too, Tom. For six years under Mike Sherman (who had also guzzled the kool-aid), absolutely nothing was done to address succession at quarterback in Green Bay. Brett Favre was it. All the marbles. The team was built around him. To the tune of zero post-season championships (including conference). It took a new GM with the common-sense and balls to finally take action and address the situation. Enter Aaron Rodgers. 'nuff said. [*haughty smile*] Tom Powers, you and the Vikings are now living thru identical scenarios to what Green Bay Packers fans did for a decade after Mike Holmgren left town. The 'results' won't be any different. You should heed history. But you won't. Enjoy. It's your angst and frustration now. #66 Chica Hey Chica, thank you for the breakdown of what will be sure to come for the Vikings as they break down... Packers 2010 NFC North Champs has a nice ring to it. BK _____________________________________ Many viqueen fans over here in MN are a little pissed that "chili" didn't draft a qb because he didn't want to make BF mad like TT did. I just laugh. They asked for it, now they got it.. dfarmer _____________________________________ Statistically, 12 men in the huddle is giving it 110%. When you start to blur the line between figurative and literal you get Favre soundbites and the Minnesota Vikings. Jim _____________________________________ Every team but the PACKERS suck....however there are quite a few teams that suck more. b@#rs, viqueens, and that powder blue team I forget the name, any how if your not a PACKER fan or you like a player like favre,( JEFF) then you suck too! Life is too short to back a team who sucks.I love football,Packers and bar-b-cue the three just work well together....Like b#@rs, garbage, farvre and sellin' out! only we don't suck. P.S Ted Tompson offered me $22.00 to say he does'nt suck....score one case of MGD for tha home team!! BigErn said so!!!! AKA Bigdufass, haha. Big
Ern said so!!!!_____________________________________ DFarmer you starting the Palace TT fan club?? I still like to see him locked in the basement reviewing film. Keeping him pale, eyes bugging out with that confused look on his face is the only way to truly appreciate TT. Like it or not until we beat Favre it's "Scoreboard Baby" We can have our collective feelings hurt but as they say it's business. If Favre comes back I say we split with the Queens. We get to the big dance, sign me up for the club and hand me a glass of the lime flavored Kool-Aid, until then just make sure that O line keep AR protected. Letting your franchise player get pounded like we did for the 1st half of last season didn't show Ted's genius. CAMP Hey Camp, what still bugs me about all of that, was that TJ Lang practiced at RT all summer long and then after the failure of RT Allen Barbre that they never tried him there again... it wasn't until he successfully replaced injured LT Chad Clifton that all of the sudden he's the backup RT to Mark Tauscher... Geez, that probably falls more into Mike McCarthy's fault, but looking back, the Packers could have been the 2009 NFC North Champs... BK _____________________________________ Just read where Greg Jennings will play Tech Jennings on Wed episode of Criminal Minds. We'll have to check it out. He appears at the crime scene part. Any other Packer (beside Brett) have a role in something? Lemondrop Hey Lemondrop, it took me forever to get around to posting this... so here's the 30 second clip of Greg Jennings performance over at youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuEuAEaXey0&NR=1... BK _____________________________________ With BF it was always, and continues to be ME ME ME. When he threw too many interceptions it was because he thought he could do no wrong and he just threw it. It would be OK because we all love BF. TT let him "retire" because BF only thought of himself, not the team. He continues to act that way. Name a time when he hasn't played the media and his fans. Name a time when he let someone else take the credit for something positive. When something negative comes up, where is Brett. When he had his drug issues, his teammates and fans were right there for him. Nothing in return. Ask James Campen and Mark Chumura. fbg3 _____________________________________ |

Skywriter Video Shoot...
Three Sheets To The Wind...
This is one TV Show that's right up my Alley (and BeerScout's
Highway) - that would be Three
Sheets. You can find all of their full episodes over at Hulu.Com and man o man, I couldn't stop laughing at your host, Zane Lamprey, as he travels the world checking out the local watering holes in enjoyment of every fine beverage (and some not so fine) that he can get his hands on... Usually all in one long day of heavy drinking, followed by the morning's recovery. There's a total of 50 episodes over 4 seasons and... well its hard to tell which episodes are the best, but check out the Scotland, or Costa Rica, the Iceland one, just too many episodes to pick from... think of country or city you've been to, or plan on visiting one day and Three Sheets has probably already been there... done that... Shit! It's all funny as hell. BeerKid - Drunken Packer Fan 4 Life! |
Spew Off Speak Out...
First things first, Beer Kid it's good to have you and the site back, I was beginning to worry! Second, look guys, I read that article and I just don't share your 'doom' where TT and Championships are concerned. Yes, what Wolf did in '96 was magical - all the stars aligned then - but this team HAS the talent to go all the way. Where (besides kicker) are we that weak? And the stuff about the Vikings (shame on LeRoy for spouting that tripe) is pure bunk. I said it in my other thing I put up here - it is absurdly telling that, for all the "talent" on that team, their ENTIRE season rests on the ankle of one 41-year old drama Queen. Pardon me, but that's hardly comparable to the stuff that Ron Wolf assembled. Anyway, I just needed to vent. Thanks BK! #66 Chica ________________________________________________ Thought everyone out there in Packer Land would love this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t36L4rgKl_c&playnext_from=TL&videos=omS09RxQiI4 ![]() Halverson Hey Halverson, that sort of looks like the "real life" version of the famous Sears TV commercial... I do love it. BK ________________________________________________ Another great toe-tapper. 2nd verse Snippet from "Bear Fans In Wisconsin" by Bananas at Large Lemondrop Thanks Lemondrop, I couldn't find the song or snippet online anywhere to link to (so I'll use the one you emailed), it's from the Turdy Point Buck II CD by Bananas At Large, so here comes the Bears Fans In Wisconsin snippet thoughtfully provided by Lemondrop. Thanks again. BK ________________________________________________ I second the recommendation of Three Sheets. The dive bar in Kentucky by the Bourbon distillery reminds me of my younger days in the tucked-away bars of Juneau County WI. I'm buying pickled eggs for everybody. About that JSOnline article. It sounds great, but in a way it's just like every other fan crying about our lack of free agent signings. By that I mean the author doesn't suggest ONE SINGLE free agent that was available this offseason that we passed on. Look, I would love (and I mean LOVE) to see this team sign a free agent O lineman or CB or safety or 3rd down RB...etc. But whom? THAT'S the question. Ruppert ________________________________________________ Beer Kid, I had never heard of the Three Sheets show - I checked out the Poland episode and thoroughly enjoyed it - it brought back great memories from my trip there! Thanks, I intend to check out many other episodes as well. Damn, I WANT THAT GUY'S JOB!!! #66 Chica Hey Chica, I haven't watched that specificepisode yet, but I've made it through about 15 of them.... BK ________________________________________________ Hmmm, should I be worried about Mr. King's boldness this early in the pre-season? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/05/16/ranking/index.html Todd G. Hey Todd, as much as those predictions are never close to being right... this time, on this date, however, Peter King is absolutely correct. BK ________________________________________________ that Skywriter vid shoot in Rustic Canyon - those building remnants in the background, i believe, are part of the Nazi commune that was there during WWII. right? seriously. they were plotting to take over the U.S. should Germany win the war. jeff ircink Hey Jeff, I've spent a lot of time down in that canyon and the surrounding ridgelines the last 15 years, but until the last 2 months I had never heard that story about the area. Just figured it was a ranch that was self-sufficient... and then burned out by some wildfire and the land turned into a part of the local park system. UPDATE: The place is called Murphy Ranch and it does have a bit of dubious history associated with it. The L.A. Times article is from 1990 - L.A. Utopia Is Now a Ruin. BK ________________________________________________ regarding Chica's comments on the Tom Power's article, i never "lived through anything" regarding Favre's indecision to come play or not the last 3 or 4 years. didn't bother me for a moment. jeff ircink Hey Jeff, BF leaving after quitting earlier in that year didn't bother me either... I just refuse to root for players no longer on the current Packers team, where-as, individual players seems to be your focus. Ah well, to each his own I guess. Go Pack Go! BK ________________________________________________ big ern? does brett having ankle surgery mean he's coming back for sure? i wonder if Grandpa Brett & Co. can stick it the Pack two more times this next season? and the Williams' Wall remains intact while they appeal the NFL ruling. twas a good new days indeed. ...and you're not really that witty, Big Ern. except for the fact that you like to talk about me a lot. jeff ircink Hey Jeff, you bait Big Ern, he baits you, nothing new, the world continues to go round and round and round...
