| Our friend and roving contributor, Radiochel, sends a few pics of Al Harris, Brett Favre and A.J. Hawk from backstage at the ESPY's a few weeks ago here in Los Angeles. As always, our deepest thanks to Radiochel for thinking of us here at Packer Palace. Click through and listen to her short interview with Al Harris. |

This Is The Day...
...your life will surely change, this is the day, when things fall into place.*This is the Day!!!! BF is supposedly set to return to Green Bay and join the Packers at training camp... unless CEO Mark Murphy who has reportedly flown to Mississippi to convince BF not to join the team are true. Maybe, he's there to escort BF back to GB. I'm still not caught up on the last few days of Packers news, but I did notice one thing that's starting to sift to the top. Usually, if a head coach says "I want that guy on my team" the general manager will try to comply with the request. Has Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy requested from GM Ted Thompson to get BF on the roster. I'm starting to catch the feeling that it's MM who no longer wants BF on the team. TT is taking a lot of flack for the hardline stance he's taken on the whole situation, but if MM is not pushing for BF's return... then MM's skating by under the radar and all the fuss. Training camp has been running for a few days, some players look good, some don't, not a big deal at this point of the year. The Packers O-Line should be much better, the Packers D-Line appears to be a weak spot. DT Johnny Jolly's off-season "cold-medicine" incident hasn't been determined, and the last year's incredibly disappointing number 1 pick DT Justin Harrell, still, still can't get on the field because of off-season surgery that might require more surgery and make a contribution. My off-hand guess, he'll be put on IR and miss the year. RB Ryan Grant is in a tough spot, he deserves starting level compensation, but I don't know if I'm ready to put him up there on the pedestal with the rest of high-salary RB's in the league. He runs hard, I like his attitude, but again, we have a player who sits out most of the off-season activity, hasn't reported to training camp yet, but fully expects to come in and be the #1 running back on the team. He very well could be, but his skills and conditioning are regressing at much faster pace, the more he misses camp. It's a tough spot for him, and it won't be dealt with until the complex situation with BF is resolved. BeerKid - Still Pack For Life! * 'This Is The Day' by Matt Johnson/The The - you can find the full lyrics here and his CD 'Hanky Panky' he covers a whole bunch of Hank Williams songs, a favorite of mine. |
__________________________________________![]() $20 million??!? Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy, just Two Wild and Craaaaazy Guys! Bobby O'Shea Hey Bobby, very nice pic of 2 of GB's wild and crazy guys... so I re-used it here, and did you actually use TT's face or is that Steve Martin with MM? They have the same white hair and all... BK __________________________________________ Shit, Murphy goes to Mississippi to offer payola, this makes the Packers look very bad, like they believe money will solve everything. I think it has been established that Favre has all the money he needs, he wants to play. After this Packers move, my hard edges are softening. I think Ted should call a press conference this morning and announce, "After years of will he, won't he and Brett having difficulty making up his mind, myself and the Packers wanted to make doubly sure that Brett was committed by throwing all sorts of ridiculous scenarios at Brett, from being traded, to backing up to $20mm to stay away, after today we are throughly convinced that Brett wants to play and we welcome him back to compete for the starting QB position." Then Ted explains things to Aaron, we devleop Brohmn, cause unfortunately after that Rogers will sign elsewhere in 2009, and we move forward with camp and and the season. GO PACKERS! Schrades Hey Schrades, just when you think reconciliation is about to happen... another weird twist comes about instead. BK __________________________________________ Wow! Just read TT/Packers ('member, BK? They one/same.) offered Favre $$$ to stay at home...forever, except when it favors TT/Packers. If, repeat IF, this is true (and how could it not be as I read it at packersnews.com), TT/Packers have shown how "business" has taken over in Green Bay. If TT/Packers really believe Favre will take the money and mow, it is demonstrating how out of touch it is with what is Packerdom. If it believes Favre is concerned about the money, I wonder what is it's idea of "Packer People". Could this revelation be the reason for McCarthy's obvious distancing himself today from TT/Packer/Favre dispute? Mayhap MM, not Murphy, is one of the two, including Favre, that retains employment after this. IF this bribery allegation is true, I cannot fathom anything but a mutiny in Packerdom. BK, is this what you meant by uglier? Go Pack! Hey Go Pack, not quite what I meant, I hadn't anticipated the 20 million buyout over 10 years, this has reached "no holds barred" territory so I no longer know what to think. BK __________________________________________ Shane's All About You: nice song, though I'm not a fan of guitar-laden ballads. I especially like the dragging of the lyrics and chords of the verse into the chorus_sort of Willie Nelson-ish. The song itself could even evoke memories of some Beatles tunes. However, I think Shane (He plays a mean, disjointed ((VERY Nelson-ish!)) trap set, by the way.) should further explore his rock-a-billy tendencies. I mean, c'mon, Charlene WAS a mean Holstein! (Bud shrugs one suit-coated shoulder.) Meanwhile, back at the ranch... Teeeee-Booooone. Where arrrrre you? I look forward towards T-Bone's brand of hate. I've seen enough of the "civil" Packers' fan war on jsonline.com, scout.com, and packernet.com, et al. The latter makes me sick. Go Pack! __________________________________________ Could it all be B.S?! This could be hype with Favre just having a long vacation? the only conspiracy theory I hane is the MYTH gasoline will hit $4.50 a gallon by 2008! POSTED: 1998. Big Ern said so!!!!! __________________________________________ "I still can't believe the stupid Packers don't want Favre...are you kidding me? Really?" Beautifully said BeerScout. That said, I am tired of being told I have to pick sides. I just want the Packers to win the damn SB. I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Brett and I will cheer Rodgers on if that is where things land. lostinutah __________________________________________ As a lifelong packer fan I'm befuddled about the BF situation.I would like a honest definitive answer on why they don't want him back.I heard the company line about they want to move forward. OK, so bring him back as the starting QB, he did get us to the NFC Championship game!RIGHT or WRONG. Who did he piss off,to get treated like he has the BLACK PLAGUE.Could it be his salary? ego trips with the front office? control of the team? If they bring him back to start they could still save face,if he gets hurt, A-Rod plays.BF starts and they have a losing season, front office says "I told you so".But if he brings you to the SUPER BOWL (I HOPE)the front office says"great decision to bring him back".They come up smelling like roses anyway. This is a NO BRAINER for the front office. If I don't know what i'm talking about, somebody please straighten me out. BF YOU ARE THE GREATEST! ziggy k - bayonne, new jersey __________________________________________ BK, Some of us fans who havent been able to see some of the camp have been wondering how the Defense is shaping up. How are the battles for DT and back up LB looking? And call me crazy, but am I the only one who thinks Rouse can cover more ground and recievers than Bigby? Thanks, you rock. Leinie's is starting to make its way to the East Coast, it is now safe to visit. brewsky in VB Hey Brewsky, spend some time at these websites - Packers Insider Blog has daily camp news or Packer Net's WDUZ Radio replay page, I spend a lot of time listening to Chris Havel's (with either Harry Sydney or Johnny Gray) Sportsline Show while reading my Packer News for the day. Both are good sources and otherwise, just run through the top rows of links on our links page for even more Packers info. BK __________________________________________ We are big fans of your site... and we have a couple posts for your consideration. 1. Check out RotoHog's version of what might happen when Favre checks into camp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NppuamY6N0E Wonder how awkward it will be when Brett Favre reports to Packers training camp? RotoHog sketches out one possible "Say Anything" scenario in which Brett, sporting a boom box and overcoat, pulls a Lloydd Dobbler and patiently and plaintively stands watch outside of Packers camp/headquarters playing "In Your Eyes" to Ted Thompson hoping to sway the Packers powers that be. Check it out as it is pretty funny and timely. In a related post check out another possible solution to the situation ... Favre should make a mix tape http://community.rotohog.com/columnists/brett-favre-mix-tape Thanks for your time and consideration, Shane - Rotohog __________________________________________ I enjoyed the Charlie brown thing…now we need to flipper commercial with brett being the flipper…or a flip flop thing... Julia __________________________________________ I thought you might find this interesting. Packers should come back to their senses by retiring their fears Interesting angle Beerkid. Although, I would have taken Brett back with a two year commitment from him rather than release him, but had TT released or taken Brett back as our starting QB from the get-go the organization would not be the current laughing stock of the NFL. PACKER PAUL __________________________________________ Many of you wanted this below. Tell me why Ted Thompson will not allow Favre to compete for the job. Isn't that what you wanted him to do is come in and compete. Does this guy have any choice but to retire or leave the team? Struggling to blame all this nightmare on Favre. The source confirmed Internet reports that Favre asked the Packers on Saturday whether he could come in and compete for his starting job with new quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, Favre was rebuffed. “I said, ‘Let me compete, you know I’ll win this job,’ and Ted said again, ‘Brett, things have changed. Aaron Rodgers is our quarterback,’” Favre told ESPN.com. Live and Die with the Pack, CAMP __________________________________________ ESPN NFL Insider and Favre confidant Chris Mortensen is reporting that Brett Favre airmailed his reinstatement papers to the league office late Monday afternoon. Unfortunately, they were immediately intercepted by Corey Webster. Video replays showed nearly 3,000 US Postal Service mail carriers were wide open on the play, yet Favre inexplicably heaved the papers directly at Webster. In a rambling, 83-minute run-on sentence afterwards, Favre placed the blame squarely on the shoulders of Packers GM Ted Thompson. Favre stated quite clearly that Randy Moss would have gone up and gotten those papers, and that Thompson simply could no longer be trusted or believed any more. Strangely, many national reporters failed to report on the Moss comments. This is likely due to the fact they nearly all of the reporters had fallen asleep, as they usually do during Favre's press conferences. It is widely assumed that these reporters will write their followup stories largely with quotes from the best-selling John Madden book of Brett Favre cliches, including the mandatory use of the phrases "having fun out there" and "love of the game." Ruppert __________________________________________ Who cares about training camp? Without Favre, it's going to be a long year. I can only imagine what the Queens are going to do to Rogers on MNF. Tony __________________________________________ WOW, Wonder if this is why Corey Williams got the TT Boy boot, Cant have any competition for Harrell in camp now can we. Funny it seems theres only competition if TT Boy didnt draft you... Packer Chatters - Lack of Competition for Rodgers Glaring CHILWIL86 __________________________________________ Favre has faxed in his letter to the commissioner, the real sparks are going to fly now. Thursday is a day off for the team, and the day that Brett will undergo his physical, if he TT doesn't crap himself by then and shit a plan that "is best for the team". I just don't see how it will be repaired by season start ~ too many accusations and miscommunications for it all to be washed away and for the team to focus on football when we were so close last year. Can't we all just get along and get back the Lombardi trophy??? Will get thick and even more sticky real soon. Go Pack Go! Kivi ~ Packer Fan__________________________________________ TT/Packers is "holding out" and Favre is using the threat to report to camp as leverage. Is this not an incredibly bizarre juxtaposition? A GM/team is attempting to keep a player out of camp, preferably at home, forever. Crazy stuff. Go Pack! __________________________________________ You have all been duped. This BF thing was conjured up by Madison ave types to promote the upcoming NFL season, nothing more. Never underestimate what 31 fat white guys will do for a few extra pennies. Now that the camps have started look for real news to take over the airwaves. Packer Jim __________________________________________ No, what is happening is the nightmare scenario: an arrogant know-it-all that was promoted past his abilities to GM is eviscerating the team yet again by giving the bum's rush to another player that he didn't recruit. It is as if Ted Thompson is channelling Dan Devine. The next step will be trading two number one draft picks for a veteran QB (must be at least 35 years old) after the season starts. Apparently when all is said and done, Gunslinger Brett will be bested by Pinchpenny Ted and the Green Bay Packers will be the worse for it. Craig of the Really Frozen Tundra __________________________________________ I still can't believe the stupid Packers don't want Favre...are you kidding me? Really? And yes, Beerkid is Anti-Favre...even though he won't come clean and say it!...wow. I don't even know what would make me go Anti-Favre...waffling doesn't do it for me. Put him now. 13-3 is what I say...no seeds. Oh, by the way, Sativa is not immature... BeerScout __________________________________________ BeerKid, I agree with you. Packers, or retirement. Please all, take that high road, let Lombardi and Big Irv up in heaven work this all out and let's move on to the Super Bowl. Which is, I think something all of us can agree on. lostinutah __________________________________________ PACKERS FOR LIFE.BUT LET BRETT GO IF THEY DONT WANT HIME ANYMORE,LIFE IS MKIFE, LET BRETT PLAY WITH ANY TEAM, WE'LL ALWAYS BE A PACKER FAN, BUT ALSO WILL ROOT FOR BRETT WHERE EVER HE HIS..AMEN BILLYBOY __________________________________________ Oh and I feel for abouttime - I almost bought tickets to that game until I saw the unreal markup (not really surprising) for the #4 retirement - I would have loved to have been there and bawled like a baby at Brett's speech...but I couldn't swallow the price. Now I'm glad I'm cheap! I want to go back to Green Bay, very much, but on a pricetag I can afford! lostinutah __________________________________________ |

Training Camp Is Here!
| ____________________________________ somebody tell me this all is just a nightmare. I won't insult God by praying that Brett's arrival in GB will be a permanent one. Having said all this I totally support our GM, I believe he is headed towards being one of the all time greats. Anybody who saw pre season last year knows that as well as Brett played, AR likely played better, he was exceptional. Brett you in any other colors is not doable, full stop. Yeah I know MJ left the Bulls, Joe Montana left the Niners, but this is the GREEN BAY PACKERS, lets act like it dammit. Yeah I also know that Lambeau left too, and to the Chicago Cardinals if memory serves. I don't recall he stayed long and I wonder (hope) he regretted it. Yeah I know Vince left too, and it was a good year with the Skins prior to fatal illness. But Brett, trust me, staining your resume with a New York Jet or Tampa Bay Buccaneer would be a huge mistake. To the extent anyone would be a fit for your legend, I shudder to admit it is the Chicago Bears. And you above all would know that we would need not to just stop you, but hurt you. I would have had the same thoughts about Bart or Ray. Reggie gets a pass for having saved our ass, having been an Eagle for so long, and for so humbly acknowledging the Packer legend. Brett I am literally begging you man, don't do it. My best hope prior to all of this was that you had been in contact with TT to let him know that you would be staying ready to the extent possible should AR have another injury. TT has been an excellent steward of the direction of the franchise, but if there is a mis step without Brett it will be a long fall as TT gets villified, I am telling u packer backers this guy knows what he is doing, but he is not God, time to give TT as much rope as he needs, show him respect, but above all, please, please, please stay here Brett. No other teams colors are worthy of covering you, we love you more than words can tell. ray brettman ____________________________________ Permission to speak to the J-E-T-S ... JETS..JETS...JETS?? C'mon TT, drop the trade crap and "move on" in 09!!! “Buck Rodgers” will still around for another year. Can you believe some shareholders actually gave TT a standing O? And then TT went M.I.A. for over an hour after the meeting before he put on some new "DEPENDS" and put it together and showed up to talk to those who remained at Lambeau who did not want to kick his sorry ass. Training camp ought to be interesting. Good for Brett!! Have a great VACA LLtP ... Hopefully Thompson will come to his senses and start Brett against the hated vi-queens September 8th and play it out like Brett was never forced into retirement and this was some bad dream by the time your back . GO PACK GO and have a great weekend everyone!!! PACKER PAUL - Minneapolis,MN. ____________________________________ Avoiding Mr. Favre for one day, let's focus instead on those "men" sporting purple clothes and pig tails. Listening to Sirius NFL radio lately, I heard an interview with some reporter named Jensen, who is a beat writer for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Mr. Jensen had a lovely argument that the 08 Vikings already reminded him of the Ravens' championship team. Part of his defense was that Trent Dilfer isn't in the top 150 QBs of all time, so that means they could do it with Tarvaris Jackson. Idiot. Sirius also had a brief interview with Fat Williams, Vikings DT. They asked him what he thought about facing Aaron Rodgers in week 1. His response was something like "it will be his first start and his first loss." A little cocky, considering the Drag Queens haven't scored an offensive TD in Lambeau since 2005, isn't it? Can we please just play some football?Ruppert ____________________________________ wow.... drink some more green and gold kool-aid dude! Get over yourself! jonnyc Yo jonnyc, If I had gotten over myself, I never would have help start Packer Palace 12 years ago... ____________________________________ RELAX MQN..... it's brett freakin favre. if he wants to play and the packers don't let him, screw em'! favre country ____________________________________ Don Majkowski Demands to be Reinstated as Packers Quarterback
Majkowski played six seasons in Green Bay from 1987 to 1992, earning the beloved nickname “Majik Man,” and leading the league in yards, completions and attempts in 1989, which earned him a Pro Bowl nod at age 25. He also was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. But despite all of that, not even two full decades after Majkowski left the team the Packers says they are committed to Rodgers. So the Majik Man felt he had to go public, share his side of the story and make his case to his dedicated fans in Green Bay. “Nothing against Aaron, I feel a little bit sorry for the position I have put him in,” says Majkowski, “I do. But I threw for 4,318 yards in 1989. That was only 19 years ago. Aaron has never accomplished anything like that at this level. This team can be something special and we need the veteran presence I can provide.” While the Packers insist they have no interest in brining Majkowski back, he says he may just show up at training camp later this month to call their “bluff.” “It’s going to be a circus there already as it is,” he said. “And if I show, do you really think they won’t hand the team back over to me? I am Don freaking Majkowski. There wasn’t a girl in all of Northern Wisconsin who wouldn’t remove her tight-rolled jeans for me back in the late ‘80s. I don’t think they can afford the negative fan reaction that would come from dumping me,” he added, pointing to fan protest outside Lambeau Field on Sunday that boasted numbers in the single digits, including his immediate family. And if showing up at Packers camp doesn’t work, Majkowski says he will show up at the camps of the other 31 NFL teams to call their “bluffs,” too. “None of them say they want me back either,” he said. “Well, I am very persistent. I will cause a circus at camp after camp until someone gives me a shot.” Hey Majik, training camp is open to everyone... come on in and compete for a job, if not Tampa Bay is always looking for a retired QB to obtain the rights to. BK ____________________________________ Noted BK, though I thought the actual "timeline" was Jet's get permission first then today - Favre to appear at camp?? Regardless, I'm not that naive to think all is well in Packerland because of this latest development. As of 4:43 PST, the league has yet to receive that reinstatement fax from Favre/Bus Cook. Also, for all we know this could indeed be water under the bridge as a trade both parties agree to might be a signature away and all this latest talk is just the dog and pony show. As I stated on my blog (Passion = Truth), I'll more certainly be convinced of the Packers' and Brett's intentions when that Monday Night games rolls around against the Vikes. Let it be known I have been and will continue to be in the "Favre" camp on this entire debacle (not saying Brett's without some fault), but nothing, as we all know, is for sure until game day. Jeff Ircink ____________________________________ Don't forget about how much we "fans" paid for tickets to the 2008 opener only to be screwed... I bought 6 tickets to the season opener, packers v vikings, monday night game, to witness history. The end of the Brett Farve era, the beginning of the "new" Packers with A. Rodgers at the helm. Bristol overtaking Lambeau to celebrate the legacy of a legend coming to an end, broadcasting a sure fire ratings winner. Bitter rivals clashing, both looking good on paper, untested despite high expectations -- Super Bowl or BUST. And there's me, and thousands like me (many of YOU). A fan who was willing to pay a premium to obtain tickets to be a part of this spectacle. A HUGE premium (even MORE than what I paid for playoff tickets last year - same seats). Then came the news from Lambeau (thank you Mr. Murphy), that the event has been put on-hold until further notice. On the heals of this announcement, my tickets arrived promptly (today), as if on cue. I'm sure the ticket broker was shaking in his (new/pricey) boots wondering if we gouged ticket buyers would cancel orders, and so shipping tickets became top priority -- once tickets are in hand, a "no-refund" policy kicks in. I also received news from four of my friends that "they can't go" now, and have basically bailed on me, leaving me with four over-priced tickets that i'm sure i'll take a HUGE loss on. Nice. Thanks Brett. Just another reason why you are no longer wanted back in Green Bay. Please just go fade away. I'm as bitter about the ticket situation as I am about the circus that Favre has carried out for years, his own creation. I said after the championship game interception loss that I WOULD NEVER GO TO ANOTHER GAME AS LONG AS FAVRE WAS QUARTERBACK (I was at that game). I stand by my words. Good riddance. I hope you can write something on this "layer" of the whole fiasco. about time Hey about time, that's a tough call, I believe the Packers only hurried the retirement ceremony to help boost sky-high the emotional fervor of the Packers to get an opening night win over the Vikqueens. You might just have to go to the game and have a great time and root for the expected Packers win over a hated rival, it will become a fond memory no matter who the QB is. BK ____________________________________ ![]() OK, BK, when is the last time you found a seed in your Ganja? Brett Favre is Football Sativa... QB Cali Weed with NO SEEDS. Meaning, he's played for 16 years with no injury! No Injuries! I just hope Mr. "We've Moved On" Mike/Ted has a good connection baby!!! Rookie Volcano Vaporize Packers! A fervent fan of 1996 CA Proposition 215. BeerScout - Favre is Sativa! Hey BS, sure BF is sativa, immature and still growing... the rest of us are trying to figure out after a summer off, if BF is an aged fine wine or a skunky aged old beer. Preferably, he would be a fine tastin' 100 year old Bourbon that delivered. BK ____________________________________ |

Thank You Roger Goodell... Please STFU!!!
| ______________________________ I can't freakinCheeseBelieve the Packers don't want flip floppy Favre back... it's killing me. Didn't they want Culpepper at one point?... yeeeouch! Beerscout______________________________ Breaking News! Brett is reporting to Green Bay training camp! Check your local news and internet. Now the end-all, be all but a step in the RIGHT direction. Jeff I Hey Jeff, Oh it's breaking news alright... and then 5 minutes later he gets permission to talk with the NY Jets. 1 step forward, 1 step back it seems... BK ______________________________ First:
Posted by Mike Florio on July 25, 2008, 11:26 a.m. EDT Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Packers quarterback Brett Favre plans to show up for training camp. In order to do so, he’ll first have to apply for reinstatement, via a letter that could be sent to Commissioner Roger Goodell as soon as Friday. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported earlier in the week that Goodell has advised the Packers that he will reinstate Favre upon request. more on Favre at PFT Coach Carl ______________________________ Love the website. Jib Jab has nothing on you guys!!!! During the forgettable era of Harlan Huckleby, Lynn Dickey, Ezra Johnson, etc. our local news station (WTMJ - Milwaukee) used to have Packer Highlights that were put to music. These weekly dittys were really corny and used bad rhymes, "Kids from Wisconsin" like singing and were really bad. I was wondering if you have ever heard of who produced these segments or know where I might download these cheesy bits of Packer history? Tom S - GO PACK!!! ______________________________ BK, OMG!!! I'm listening to the Greta Van Susteren interview... It sounds EXACTLY like Frank Caliendo doing John Madden doing Greta Van Susteren!!! She says "Brett Favre this", and "Brett Favre that", I think it hilarious! She's a cool Pack Fan!!! Boz ______________________________ BK, You and Me and Leroy agree. Seems the bottom line may be JUST as Campen reportedly told Favre. And yes, uglierer even. Bob McGuinn reported cell phone records were part of Packers' case of tampering. I can't read it: do you know how he cited source? Now Pete Dougherty, GB Press Gazette writes:
Uglierer? I was wrong. It might get Sandra Bernhard-10 Foot Pole hybrid ugly. WTF? (Watch The Fritos, right?) Go Pack! ______________________________ AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS, AND GO PACKERS, AND BRETT, WHERE EVER YA PLAY!!!!!!!!!!! BILLYBOY ______________________________ Can we just play some damn football?! Big Ern said so!!!! ______________________________ Too much time on my hands BeerKid!!! Leaving tomorrow to go sit on a sandbar in the Mississippi River, camp, fish, drink beer and swat mosquitos for nine days....... I probably won't hear a lick of Packer news the whole time. THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long Live the Pack!!! ______________________________ If you have the time, go over to Packer Net's WDUZ replay of Sportsline 7/23 show. Chris Havel and Johnny Gray have Greta Van Susteren on during the last part (3/4 mark) of the show. On TV in the BF interview, I didn't think she came across well, on this radio show, she may be more of a hardcore Packers fan than I am. BeerKid - Always Pack For Life! ______________________________ Hey BeerKid.................. Who ever is going to be bidding for Favre might want to get the planning done for Favre's personal shower room. They won't have much time to get it built before the season starts and hopefully they have the space in their locker room for it. As for TT acquiring the players BF wanted, I imagine there's hundreds of players wishing their GM had gotten so and so, every year. Marino does I'm sure. Some like the Lions just wish they didn't have a GM. "Po Poor Me" Favre didn't get the players he needed this year along with 30 other teams every year. Don't everyone forget, three years ago Poor Me Favre looked washed up, sure hope his new coach will stand up to him, but it appears Poor Me is in tight w/Goodell now, so if he were to throw 25 INT's, Goodell will have them reassigned to other QB's to get his numbers down. You know since Goodell wants this wrapped up by Sunday, some team should be able to pick Poor Me Favre up for a 3rd rounder and then trade to him to the Vikes for a second and make out good on the deal. I think I have an autographed pic of Favre for sale. Long Live the Pack!!! ______________________________ BREAKING NEWS BEERKID!!! This just reported from The Green Bay Press Gazette. Green Bay Packer's president, Mark Murphy, announces the release of GM Ted Thompson today. Asked why he released Ted Thompson, Murphy states "Isn't it obvious". Murphy announces his replacement as Brett Favre. Favre will hold the duties of QB and GM for the Packers. Favre states: "I don't want all that work, I just want the players I want." In other news, the 30 QB's from all other NFL teams apply for their GM's position with them stating "we don't believe our GM's did a good enough job getting players for our Super Bowl chances either and we'd like to have the opportunity to pick the players we want also. The lone QB not to apply was Eli Manning of the New York Giants. Murphy thanks Ted Thompson for his work with the organization and wishes him well in his future. Long Live the Pack!!!Hey Long Live the Pack, you're on a tear this morning... BK ______________________________ Oooh. So that's what STFU means. I thought it meant Shiny Toes From Uganda. Man. No wonder the chicks in the chat room stopped talking to me. Go Pack! Hey Go Pack, after considering this deeper, I think the Commish's shot-across-the-bow statement was directed at agent Bus Cook and the BF will sign his paperwork the week before the regular season comment, I believe that the Packers can take up to 6 weeks before accepting his un-retirement. In other words, it can get uglier... a lot of words have been said, but I'll go with what former Packers Leroy Butler and his "want your old job back Brett, report and by the 3rd practice you'll have it" comment. I'll go with it because it sounds like its the bottom line truth in this matter. BK ______________________________ Kid, Your right, drag this BF thing on through training camp. It's all good. This has been and will continue to be good PR for the team and the NFL. We should have moved beyond this nightmare before it was even public. I am sure in the bizzarro world of Ted this has been good for everyone. As much respect as you have lost with Favre, I have lost with Ted. What is to be gained at this point an additional 5th round pick that Ted will trade down to two 7ths. Trade or release him and get this done. CAMP Hey Camp, BF was the starting QB of the Green Bay Packers right up until the week before the draft in April when he still didn't want to return, so the Packers placed him on the retired list. All I will say is that the BF announced last year right before the Super Bowl that he was returning, he participates in all the off-season camps, Packers go on a tear and finish 14-4. This year, he actual retires, wavers, stays retired and up until today, still isn't committed to returning and playing football this season for any team. I know, I know, it's all TT and MM's fault because BF is the greatest thing to walk the planet since Lombardi and they didn't show the proper amount of genuflection to him this off-season, but if BF was interested in reaching the Super Bowl with a playoff competitive team, umm, he's on one. I can't imagine how the Vikqueens are a better team, or the Bucc's, or the Panthers... The Jets??? I don't know... I'm not sure how BF can just George Constanza'it by quitting, and then showing up months later like nothing has happened and expect to still be the starting QB of the Green Bay Packers. BK ______________________________ BK, after reading what you wrote about Favre's local charity work and other comments, I'm wondering now if it's just a simple fact that Favre will not play for Green Bay anymore, period. Maybe his is THAT torked off at Thompson due to Moss, Mariucci, Marco and Mike Wahle, etc. I think that's a possibility, and now Favre might be doing anything he can so he gets released... like slamming the team through that stupid interview and not filing his return paperwork. The longer this goes, the more I'm thinking it would just be best to cut him...as soon as he files that paperwork. Minnesota would screw it up, anyway. You're dead on the money about Goodell, too. Ruppert Hey Ruppert, I've been over at WDUZ Sportsline radio replay page at Packernet.Com listening to . So the comment on the BF charity work came from Chris Havel and the transcript of BF Retirement Press Conference. It was easily overlooked, but certainly sounded final. Wheels within wheels, plans within plans, BF may have wanted to be out of GB for years. BK ______________________________ BeerKid, I think you are 100% right!!!!!! Favre didn't want to play for the Packers so he retired. Only problem is is that he didn't really want to retire. Looks like he found another way around the problem and your point on Goodell is excellent also. The Packers should file tampering charges on him also!!!!!!!!! If he doesn't help in all disputes, he shouldn't help in any. He's bordering on the fringe of discrimination picking who and who-not he'll help out. Brady lost both of his starting receivers two years ago and although he wasn't happy about it, he didn't take his ball and leave like a little poor sport. This whole problem is pretty basic really and was started by Favre. He started the ball rolling in finding and grooming his replacement when he started talking retirement. They went and found him and now he's ready to play. And I'm a little befuddled also BeerKid. Since when did teams start the practice of trading retired players??? Shouldn't he have to reinstate himself first, before the ball is in the Packers court??? Funny how convenient is is for him not to want to show up at camp and cause a big distraction......... since he's already caused one hell of a commotion!!!!!!!! You know....... he should have just kept his fucking mouth shut til he knew for sure he was getting a couple three years away from retirement. Maybe he's starting to feed off all the drama every year?? I personally want to see the Packers give him his starting job back!!!! He's still a fine QB. If he doesn't take it, then he's out of options. Then we won't have to see him in another jersey and everyone can enjoy watching him for another year or two. He can also stick it to TT next year by retiring and making the Packers stick the Brohm kid out there before he's ready and enjoy watching the Pack have a couple bad years while Brohm gets some game experience. Long Live the Pack!!! P.S. I'm still not sure that A-Rod is not the better QB..... It's funny how he put three plus years in, camp-in and camp-out learning everything, and when he goes in against Dallas and shows what he's learned, everyone just wants to throw away what he did as if he was just lucky that day. Maybe that's exactly how he looks in practice too??? Hey LLtP, is Brett, after taking the summer off, separating himself from the team and it's practices, still in shape to be the starting QB. Almost every year in my recent memory, he has pretty much cruised through the pre-season without getting enough rep's to actually be sharp on opening weekend. Obviously this year, it's going to be different no matter which team he's on. BK ______________________________ |

We could have drafted him in 1992, but no, then when we actually have him on our team in 1998, we don't replace our lame starting QB with him! BeerScout is now officially on the Klingler bandwagon! I wonder if he's still available? BeerScout |

Hey Go Pack, it's one of those classic piano tunes that's been stuck in every kid's head for decades... Thank you Vince Guaraldi. BK _________________________________________ Hey BeerKid.......... Here's a scenerio. Let's say the Packers decide to put both of their QB's (Favre and Rodgers) up for auction to the highest bidder in draft picks and then trade the one who brings the most......... Who do you think that would be??? Funny thing, some teams don't have one decent starter and the Packers are blessed with two!!! Long Live the Pack!!! _________________________________________ Oh Yeah BeerKid............. I should add to the previous, that that'd require Favre to commit to 3 more years so they can get Brohm groomed to replace him then. I'd imagine teams would anty up more for a possible 10-15 year player than a two to three year one. But the Favre fans would be happy and the Packers would have extra picks to possibly land a stud in the next draft. I think we'd be fine with either QB. What hurt was Jolly's legal troubles, he'll be harder to replace from our roster. Long Live the Pack!!! Hey LLtP, I think more teams would be interested in AR, although every team would want Brett if they had to give up almost nothing. Brett can't commit to this year, how are you going to get him to commit for 3 more? The more I wrap my head around this saga, the more I'm convinced that for whatever reasons, Brett wants to play this year, but not for the Packers. Go back to his retirement press conference and his comments about his local charity work. He said it was over, done. That sounds like going to another team, not going into retirement. At the end of March, the Packers after talking with BF, start planning his come-back, BF backs out 2 days before. Packers put BF on the reserved/retired list at the end of April, 1 week before the NFL Draft. Now comes June... BF is talking with good buddy Darrell Bevell (coach on the Vikqueens), his buddy who he talks to all the time (yeah, right) and BF submits a request to be released by the Packers. Packers file tampering charges against the Vikes. BF goes on CNN and airs some dirty laundry, Packers air some dirty laundry. BF's agent says BF has until the 6th game to file for re-instatement. Now the NFL Commish wants the Packers to resolve their problems with BF, and I'm wondering when the hell has BF filed for re-instatement? It goes on and on and on... BK _________________________________________ Sincerely BK, I am just a puddle with this Favre/Packer stuff. I was just in PackerPalace and read the posts. Brett won't win, nor will the TT office. its a blight on all of us, and the media keeps it going. There is rally's ev ery Sunday at Lambeau for Brett and FIRE TED THOMPSON. What a mess . I think Brett has been our gunslinger, love him or not, for 16 yrs? WooooooooHoooo! Its been a great ride. No matter his undecisiveness in the last 4? Every team in the NFL wants them to release Farve and they would take him in a minute. We were the Giant game away last year. And the office ? wants Arod. Like I said............. what a freaking mess for the best QB alive in the NFL, and for our beloved Packers. I will never turn my back on Brett. Nor the GB Packers. Its a diirty rotten shame it had to go this way. NO one looks good thru this, and its the first blight in Titletown that I remember, and I AM OLD !... LOUD LAURA PACKER 4 FAN _________________________________________ Funny how TT's refusal to back down affects seemingly every bit of Packer news. When I read the following, in a packers.com release regarding Marco Rivera, I immediately wondered if it was a veiled reference to the Favre situation. "To retire as a Packer in my book is the greatest thing you can say as a football player in the NFL," said Rivera. "It's an honor and a privilege to retire and become a member of the Packers alumni with all the great players I played with and those that came before me." Not saying it WAS a reference to the present "issue", but that that was the first thing to cross my mind when I read the release. As well, every time I hear TT say something, I'll be wondering what his exact meaning is; what openings he's left himself; if I'm to consider what the meaning of is is. It really is sad, but it's what's on the plate before me. Where is T-Bone? Have I missed his opinion? Teeeeee,-Boooonnne! Hep us, please. Go Pack! Backstage With Al Harris...
Life time cheesehead Radiochel checks in with her interview with Al Harris backstage at the taping of the ESPY's Wednesday night. Nothing serious, and nothing revealing on the Packers plans for this season, but a 90 second interview with the current CB of the Green Bay Packers by one of our friends. Al Harris - Backstage with Radiochel A big thanks to Radiochel for again thinking of us here at Packer Palace, and I'm pretty sure she wanted me to edit out a few things, but as everyone already knows, there are no editors on the payroll here at Packer Palace. Back in August of 2006, Radiochel was kind enough to allow us her 2 Questions for Joe on Brett interview, so we appreciate being thought of. This week, we tip our beers to Radiochel, cheers! Brett And Ted's Excellent Adventure...
Speak Out Spew Off...
I don't require BF to come back groveling on the ground and showering us all with money and chocolate cheese. I don't require him to publicly apologize to TT or MM, but I do require BF to actually decide if he wants to play by filing his re-instatement with the NFL Commish. Think of where all of our rantings and ravings would have shifted today, if back on June 20th BF would have had this conversation with his coach:
MM: WTF! Why now? BF: Who cares, I'm coming back and I intend to be the starting QB, the Commish already knows. Tell TT. MM: We've moved on. TT won't like this. BF: So. I still have 2 years left on my contract. My talent and leadership will force you to play me. MM: .... BF: See you tomorrow. Don't forget to tell TT. I hear he's on vacation. There's many of us who do not want to side with TT over BF in their personal spat, and there are many of us who think that BF is still the better QB over A-Rog, and there are many more of us who can't quite figure out how BF can take the summer off from the team and players, and yet somehow come in and pick up where he left off last year. The year where he announced his return in January, and spent the whole summer with the team. The resulting 13-3 was no coincidence. BF could have been showing us all off-season long why he still can be a top-5 QB in the league on the field, but he's also showing us something new this off-season, he's become a top-5 whiner off the field. BeerKid - Still Pack For Life! |
| ___________________________________ This is just beautiful. This is copied from the AP story today about Mark Murphy expressing full confidence in Thompson and McCarthy, regarding the Packers' tampering complaint against the Drag Queens: "A person familiar with the Packers' complaint told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Packers officials have expressed a belief that interest from the Vikings is the main reason Favre suddenly is considering a return to the NFL. The person requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation." Of course, this is all speculation, but can't you just see Zygi talking to Childress and/or Bevell? "Guys, Tarvaris is totally useless. I'll give Favre $25 million for one more year...just give him a call on the side...see if he can get the Packers to cut him, real quiet like..." It would explain why Brett all of a sudden started acting like a complete and total idiot. Ruppert ___________________________________ I will be as broken a record as some of you are. Release Favre. If he is a whiner, washed up, not in shape, hasn't practiced with the team, let him be the burden of another team. Just get this over and close this circus tent. CAMP ___________________________________ Lets let Ted know what we really think. www.favregate08.com Packer Backer ___________________________________ **** warning - satire alert! (I hope) BK ***** July 24th, 2008 - In tonights news... Green Bay Packers General Manager Ted Thompson was allegedly assaulted by shareholders in an emergency meeting to discuss the fate of former quarterback Brett Favre. Reports indicate, that Mr. Thompson was chased into the parking lot where the assailants repeatedly hurled footballs at him until he fell to the ground. Mr. Thompson is in stable condition at the Aurora BayCare Medical center receiving treatment for a his injuries. Doctors treating him said "he had severe hemorrhaging and would have easily would have suffered brain damage, had he had a brain. He's very lucky and we expect a quick recovery". Stay tuned, we'll have more information on live at 10 news. 7-9 under Candy Ankles ___________________________________ TT as Lucy! Great cartoon, BK. Also, yes, Harris and Woodson came in for the offseason... this year. So Favre thinks, I've got insider access to Mariucci, who, though he's said publicly he doesn't want to coach now, has told me the GB job is a dream. I'm gonna let Ted know. Ted says, But Mooch said he doesn't want to coach now. Oh, you just talked to him and he says he's interested? Ok. I'll ring him. Obviously, TT had no intention to interview Mariucci, but didn't have the balls to tell that to Favre, rather leaving him thinking Steve would get a call, which he did....after McCarthy's hiring. After the AP ran with a headline proclaiming TT will have Favre back only as a 2nd-stringer, TT quickly pointed out that's NOT what he said, though that was the impression one was left believing. TT seems to carefully choose his words and thus they deserve close scrutiny. What Campen reportedly told Brett, that if pushed, TT would take him back as the starter, seems to be likely. Perhaps that is why Favre has yet to take the step he needs to if he wants to play. Maybe he doesn't really want to "stick it" to them and is waiting for a trade to be agreed upon before filing for reinstatement. Ah, for the days of the occasional idiot FIB or Mud Duck wandering into the Palace and proudly displaying their stupidity. Go Pack! Hey Go Pack, TT as Lucy, Brett as the hapless but determined Charlie, and MM plunking away in the background. Shows you what happens when BeerScout and I start drinking Chimay heavily in the afternoon... Re-hashed creativity with some of our previous work strikes again!!! The moment called out for it. BK ___________________________________ "As the Cheese Turns"!!! Look let me be The first to say BF is the BEST QB of all times, with maybe one exception being John Unitas (He called his own plays). But BF is wrong on this one, He "Stated" he was retired, The Team moved on and Drafted not one but 2 QB's in the draft. Ted Thompson is doing what he gets paid to do and thats is making the tough decisions. Most if not all the decisions he has made since taking over the team have improved the team unlike Sherman who continually set the team back with disastrous drafts and personnel decisions. Lets not forget one important fact that will seal BF fate with the Packers and why you will never see him wear a Packer uniform again, and that is 12 million dollars. The executive committee called for an emergency meeting regarding BF and I am sure they will discuss the 12 million at stake and BF's retirement ceremony at Lambeau. BF's trade value remains high. Here are a few scenarios that I believe will happen in the 2-3 weeks.

Favre isn't saying you have to take me back. He's saying, either take me back as a starting QB or release me. To me, that's totally fair, given TT's insult of saying he can come back as a backup. If he was fair to Favre, he would have said he can come back and we'll let the QB compete for the position. But TT has already made up his mind who the starting QB should be (Isn't that supposed to be the job of the Coach?) Seriously, If you were Favre, you wouldn't accept the backup position either. Especially knowing that you really have no change of earning your spot back. There's no way TT would do that, because he won't concede that he was wrong. He's too damn proud. Other GMs deal with real problem players. Favre just wants to play, is that such a crime! 7-9 Packers under Rodgers ___________________________________ |

Brett, Are You Off Your Medication?
Where does one start on this... Was that really Brett Favre talking to Greta Van Sustern last night? Where was that QB that has led the Packers through some great games and competitive moments over the last 17 years. That wasn't him. That was some whiny immature person that I've never seen before. So Brett, what happened? You stop taking your meds? Did you have a tractor accident where you banged your head this offseason. Post-career concussion syndrome? Bi-Polar? Too much estrogen? Please explain... I'm expecting you to break down and start crying again in the 2nd half of the interview. Like a little girl would...The whole it would have been "great" to take the summer off and not work out with the team until the start of training camp in July. Uhhh, WTF!!! How would that have been "great" for the team. Oh, it wouldn't... I get it. Now we're at that point, and you're still not committed to returning, well, great! When will you make up your mind? All this crap from our "hopefully" former prima donna QB now makes our new QB Aaron Rodgers "shut up or get on board" statement come across as the mature statement of the Packers off-season. Brett, buddy, I thought it would take over a hundred years for me to get over you... it took 2 weeks of you being something less than a man to accomplish the near-impossible. You have alienated this fan's love for you beyond repair. Go back to your first love, driving your tractor around aimlessly, because based on what I've seen, that must be where your head is actually at. UPDATE: Fine, fine, fine, bang away at my head all you want, I have been forced into TT's camp because of the immature actions of BF. I have spent a lot of time reading through the different Packers forums, and everyone is re-hashing all the same points. But I do have one thing I'll add, it's fairly obvious that Brett misses his dad. Irv Favre was most likely the only one is his inner circle of family and friends that would be able to look his son in the eyes and say "Quit being such a dumbfuqq about all this, show up and compete for your job or sit down and shut up." Second to last thing... there's alot of talk from BF fanboy's that he is not actually retired 'cuz he didn't turn in any paperwork. Wrong, if you have to submit in writing to the NFL Commissioner that you want to be re-instated, your retired. Besides, there a many players who never, ever, turn in any paperwork to confirm they are retired. Last thing... I would have respected BF much more if he had bothered to show up for the mandatory OTA's, as a leader of the team should have. Notice that Al Harris and Charles Woodson did this year... BeerKid - Still Pack For Life! |
________________________________As the Cheese Curds... OK, like I said before BeerKid and disagree on this one. And I know there are many more dissenters out there, but I'd put Brett in as starting QB without even blinking... period. I do feel bad for Aaron Rodgers though as he's done nothing....er, wrong. Beerscout ________________________________ I may end up being wrong on this prediction but I think Brohm will be your QB of the future. He may not be another Favre but I see him having a great NFL career. As for the Favre drama, I still believe TT is handling this as well as he can. Maybe TT did something to BF that hasn't been discussed in public. But BF needs to understand that GB can't be held hostage by his constant indecision. I hope he just stays in Mississippi because you know that if he comes back as the backup, Rodgers would likely (and unfortunately) suffer a major injury and then it would be Favre mania all over again. VIKING DAN Hey Dan... Thanks for checking in again. Every player gets hurt every game most likely, it's just one's who can play week to week, but I'm having trouble with your diagnosis on A-Rog, seeing that looking at your QB on the Vikqueens squad, who in 2 years has played in 16 games, 11 TD's, 16 INT's, come one man, TJack makes Rex Gross,Man look good. A-Rog would have finally beat Favre out for the starting job this year anyway... in an open training camp competition he would, another reason Brett's trying to stack the deck as the automatic starter if he returns. Tampering charges against the Vikings... This year is going to be fun! BK ________________________________ 4 SALE! A late 30's veteran who who plays like Roy Hobbs. Apologize to the fans regardless of the outcome. Whether you are the starter this year in GB or traded or remain retired. That's how you gain our respect. That's the closure I want. Pfunk ________________________________ Packergeeks has a great post with a great point - something is up with Brett. It may be that he is really missing his dad's guidance, it may be that TT did something so bad we'll never know about it. I don't think we can forgo 16 years of consistently human behavior (even when in rehab, etc. and screwing up) with two weeks of Prima Donna. But he does need to figure it out. I believe he can do it. Maybe Deanna needs to take over for Big Irv. Go Pack! lostinutah ________________________________ Ross Tucker, recently retired player, explained the retirement recently changed process on Sirius NFL Radio the other day. Evidently the government didn't like the old NFL procedure where a player had to file the paperwork. Something about how the player shouldn't be able to define when their retirement started. Also, this takes the responsibility off the player and puts it on the team. The team is not supposed to do this unless the player shows an intention to retire, like announcing it in a press conference. So now the player doesn't file a darn thing. The team places the player on this reserved/retired list, and that means the player is retired as far as the league is concerned. The player's salary falls off the team's cap. Any prorated bonuses would then be added back to the team's salary total, thus reducing that team's cap space. The Packers wisely amortized Favre's bonuses early in the deal, so they basically gain all $12 mil in salary reduction and added cap space. If the player does nothing, he's now retired as far as the league and government are concerned. A normal retiree would have to do nothing but wait for the bargained retirement benefits to start. The player can reverse the whole process by filing these reinstatement documents. If Favre does that, the process goes right back to where it was before the Packers put him on the reserve/retired list. He'd then be like any other active player on the roster. Their 2008 salary total goes up by Favre's $12 million salary, and they have that much less cap space, etc. Ruppert Thanks Ruppert... Brett retired on March 3rd, by the end of March he was ready to un-retire, then he retired again. April 25th is when the Packers officially placed him on the reserve/retired list. So they gave him another month to maybe change his mind again, he didn't, and with the NFL Draft only a week away, and with Daunte Culpepper spurning TT's sort of low-ball offer, the Packers drafted 2 QB's and moved on. BK ________________________________ Having had to work, I just watched the Greta interviews on the 'puter. Hmmmmm...I am really confused. As I see you are. Lemondrop Hey Lemondrop, I'm so far gone around the bend and bent so far out of shape it will take a few weeks to get it all straighten back out. Confused is the least of my problems... BK ________________________________ I'm amazed with how many of you take part in bashing one of the greatest Packers players ever. He's given us 16 great years (more than TT and MM have done). And yet, you are are so quick to get on the "let's bash Brett bandwagon". I can understand that he's partly in the wrong here (guilty of retiring early and not fully committing until now) and maybe it is time to "move on". Not my opinion, however, that's a respectable argument. ... What's not respectable is how you all (especially Beerkid) colorfully disrespect a guy who brought the Packers back form the ashes (70s-80s) and doesn't deserve this. You all are so quick to turn on this guy. There are two sides to this story, both parties are at fault. Most other teams deal with players who are on drugs, get involved in shootings, scream and yell at other players on the sidelines, etc. Favre's only guilty of retiring early and wanting to come back and then being stunned to find out that the organization he's bleed for and helped make a 13 and 3 team last year, won't take him back (slap in the face, doesn't make a God **** bit of sense). I'd be a little pi**ed off too. I just can't wait 'till next year when Rodgers starts to get boo'ed and you all jump on the "let's bash Rodgers" bandwagon. Of course, I won't be here to see it, because I'll be on some other Packers website that doesn't jump legendary QBs as their being escorted out of Lambeau Field by TT's security team. I'M DONE WITH THIS FAIR-WEATHER SITE No No NO! You Can't Leave! Especially for mis-characterizing us as a Fair Weather Site - WTF! is up with that? I was sort of thinking that we here are one of the more caustic and cynical websites around. We do love our Packers though, through thick and thin, we will certainly bitch all day long, but at the end of that day (which is everyday), we will stand with the Green Bay Packers. And for as disrespecting one of the greatest Packers ever. Yes he was, he might still be, but he personally doesn't like the GM of the Packers, and instead of shutting his mouth, and cashing his monstrous pay-check, he's belly-aching about not being able to take the summer off with out deciding if he wants to play or not. HOF QB's don't act this way... Why are you giving him a pass? BK ________________________________ Again, I say release Favre. That ends the story with the Packers. Just release him, what is the problem. I am not one of the many who want Brett to come back and play in Green Bay. The amount of bad blood between these guys makes that impossible. Favre needs to move on. Let him move on, whatever or wherever that is. I don't want to hear that it is bad business to let him go. You think this current nightmare is not bad business!!! No publicly traded companies CEO would let this much bad PR take place without trying to end it as soon as possible. We are creating a future PR nightmare when trying to bring in free agents; it will be harder to attract veteran free agent players. (I guess that is if we ever try to get a quality free agent.) When your management is accused of telling untruths (lies) and involved with a future hall of famer in a pissing match it does not make your organization look good. Secondly, just for fun I would like to see all three at ESPN for an interview. If you think Favre got softball questions on Fox. What do you think TT and Packer management has gotten from the Journal Sentinel or WTMJ hard balls? Thompson is somehow believed to be completely honest in this thing. Are you kidding me?? Favre and Thompson have egos the size of the state of Wisconsin. This is a he said, he said, there is no winner. Let Favre go and deal with it. Put Thompson's product on the field and let’s compete. If we compete against Favre it is not the end of the world. Why are people so worried about playing against Favre on another team? End this mess and release Favre. Those of you that think Favre is washed up, those of you that think Aaron is the next Tom Brady, those of you who think Thompson is a genius, those of you who think Thompson is a joke, those of you who just hate Favre, and those of you who are just looking for a way out of this mess, solve the Packer's problems and release him. We need to move on and we all doubt Favre will play anyway. We don't all have to agree on liking Favre or Thompson, because we are all not going to agree on this. We do have to find a way to move on with the least long term damage to the Packers. Release Favre, and let’s get back to building the current team. CAMP ________________________________ Your right Beerkid It's now obvious #4 wanted to play, and play GM (Let Wahl go, didn't get Moss or interview Mooch. In this battle of egos there was only 1, #4's. I backed him 100% till he changed from a good old boy to a drama queen with a ego similiar to T.O's and Chad Johnson. This is so SAD!! Way to go TT and Mike.... dfarmerHey dfarmer, now the circus is in full swing as the Packers have filed tampering charges against the Minnesota Vikings over coach Darren Bevell's off-season contact with Brett. They are friends... but I wonder what advice he gave Brett, something like "get out of your contract and come play for the Vikqueens". That would be my advice to my QB friend who doesn't like his current GM. BK ________________________________ Hey BK, Just saw very interesting Peter King on ESPN this PM. He still has the voicemail that Favre left him a couple days after he announced his retirement. Seems Brett message states very clearly that Ted T and the Pack never forced him to retire. Peter says that he has been playing that for people to hear for themselves over the past several days... Still 100% behind the Packers. Boz Hey Boz, are you and Peter King saying Brett is lying? 'Cuz there's thousands of BF-fanboy's out-there who have been trying to convince us all that TT and MM were the only ones who were lying... As always, thanks for the updates. BK ________________________________ I sure do hope for all of us "PACKERS FANS" that Aaron Rodgers can play QB like we all "ASSUME" he can. It's been about 19 years since we've had a bad one...I still cannot believe that TT Boy is comfortable with handing a 13-3 team on the verge of a Superbowl over to a guy has never started a regular season game. and Backed up by 2 rookies. or is Nall still on the roster....Anyway we will all live with Teddy's choices. We as "PACKER FANS" have been spoiled for a long time.and I wanna know, who? player or coach ie... people who really know about the lockeroom has said that BF is a cancer... He's never said anything bad about AR or any other team mate. Well anyhow in a time when he seems to be very unpopular, and none of us really know whats goin too happen with BF. I'll go way out ona limb and say "THANX BRETT FOR 16 YEARS OF SERVICE TOO MY FAVORITE FOOTBALL TEAM THANK YOU VERY MUCH"..... Chilwil86 Hey ChilWil86, you're not suggesting that Aaron Rodgers has a chance at making asses of you and me and thousands of others... but yes, we are assuming that A-Rog has that ability to win alot of games for the Packers. BK ________________________________ hought you'd like to read this and, if you react like I do, have your eyes roll back in your head with the irony... I wonder if Javon Walker is available to comment on the current Favre situation... My favorite excerpt, “If Javon wants to know what he quarterback thinks, and I would think he might, I’d tell him he’s going about this the wrong way,” Favre told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “When his agent tells him not to worry about what his teammates think and all that stuff, I’d tell him I’ve been around a long time and that stuff will come back to haunt you.” from: Favre: Walker is selfish - Brett Favre says that the Green Bay Packers can win without Pro Bowl wide receiver Javon Walker. Here's what is going on people, read through and stay with me... TT and MM just got contract extensions this (past) year...the team is young (the youngest in the NFL), the team is POISED to become a dynasty (or a dynasty in the making if you will), the Packers may take a step backward this coming season (new QB plus young players and extra-plus depleted defensive line -- we need one more good draft at least) and the Packers may darn well miss the playoffs in 2008. HOWEVER, in year two of the new era, it all starts to make sense, and scare the crap out of opponents. Think about it... a year from now, when this team starts to gel even more, and the final pieces are added/acquired, do we really want a 39 year old QB in place? Only to get hurt, retire, or put us through this BS "i'm going to retire/i'm not going to retire/geez maybe I will retire" crap?? With A-Rod under center (or Brohm), we have a much brighter LONG TERM future. It makes sense. I can take a (one) year of watching our team grow up to know that we'll have many more years of being a part of "the tipping point" -- more than Favre could deliver... PLAYOFF VICTORY(s) AND SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS. Get it? about time Hey about time, it's always a battle and gamble between "win now" and "build for later". Like most Packers fans, I want it both ways. Honestly, I've always said that the Packers GM should make gambles with players that can help BF out and win the Pack another SB. I would take a bad year that would follow such a gamble, of course the trick is not to have many many bad years follow. I don't think Brett can win us big games anymore, but he can always report for Training Camp and prove me wrong. I won't care, I love the Packers through all my ever-changing moods. BK ________________________________ Brett's attitude and actions show the problem with great athletes in the US. They know they can get away with anything as long as they produce on the field. Brett has been showing his attitude toward the Packers when he said " he might call their bluff." What a childish statement to make. Frank ________________________________ Rodgers and his agent should redo his contract right now. Rodgers should tell the public he is willing to wait one more year. Great public relations. Play Rodgers when we are up by 14 or down by 14. This all goes away. john ________________________________ I am with you BeerKid!! It has been mentioned in some quarters that Brett's "aw shucks" persona was a fabrication for public consumption. Well, he certainly fooled me.....never in my Packer loving life did I anticipate the massive goodwill I have held for the guy could/would be dispensed with so quickly!! It is gone! And now, having been called on his bullshit, he is doing his ever-loving best to take the legs out from under this organization. It is almost as if he is intentionally sabotaging AR's start, and the team as a whole, to validate his own greatness.....I can hear it now from the booth...."boy, if Brett Favre were here the Packers would not be having such a rough go at it in 2008". Dude is nothing more than a grown up version of a spoiled brat, and his "my way or the highway" attitude speaks volumes, sadly. Hit the road Brett! Don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out of Green Bay, and many fans' hearts. Scott - "Formerly Drunk on Water Street ________________________________ Here's the link from the JSOnline Packers Blog to some interesting info that never made the "aired" interview: Brett Favre, Part 2, and the aftermath What needs to be made PERFECTLY CLEAR TO ALL PACKER AND FAVRE FANS IS THAT THE MEDIA ONLY TELLS YOU WHAT THEY WANT TO. Look, Brett/Deanna called Greta because they thought she would give him a chance to tell his part. Looks like that never happened - aired on TV anyway. That said, I'm still 100% behind the Packers... Boz ________________________________ Drama queen... the interview transcript said it all. he just keeps tarnishing his legendary status amongst Packer fans. Bobby ________________________________ Brett Favre QB rating in 07 POSTSEASON; 99.0 - Peyton Manning rating in 07 POST; 97.6 - Tom Brady rating in 07 POST; 96.0 - Phillip Rivers... who cares... Now, you don't want Brett Back huh? Business is business, and the Favre gives the Packers the best chance to win. What else is there. The Packers have quote "Moved on". That's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. Yeah TT wanted to move on simply because he wants to put his stamp (I drafted all of the players) on this team, but three months went by. There's plenty of time to reverse course. This isn't like corporate america where when you quit, you're done. The NFL has never worked that way and many players have retired only to come back. Case and point, Strahan didn't make up his mind to play until August and as I recall he did pretty good for a "washed up, old" player. Truth is, if TT and MM hadn't pressured Favre into making an early decision, we would have avoided all of this mess. They really didn't need to get a decision out of him until training camp and if they were smart would have insisted he not make a decision until them. Yeah we drafted two QBs in the draft, supposedly as a result of Brett's announcement. But seriously, we probably would have drafted them anyways had Brett decided then he was going to play another year or two. We can't put all of our faith in Candy Ankles. I know a bunch of you think he's going to be the next greatest thing, but more likely then not he'll be the next Joey Harrington, Tim Couch, or Rex Grossman. How do all "loved Favre last year, and now I hate him" think that Rodgers is going to be just as good as Brett. Please... put down... the crack pipe!!! 2008 Packers go 7-9 with Rodgers Thanks 7-9, BF's QB rating for the NFC Championship game was 70.65, the 2nd half was around 44.0 - and despite that, all he had to do was throw the ball to Ryan Grant who was running away from your case-in-point Strahan, and the Packers could have been in position to win that game. Instead, he launched the ball downfield directly to a NY CB and the game was basically over after that. TT and MM have done wonders for this franchise, and BF wants to un-do all this because TT didn't resign Rivera & Wahle, didn't hire Mariucci, and wouldn't agree to the salary demands of Moss. All old news, but it's why BF didn't want to play this year. Great! Thanks again, and make sure to come back right before the season and re-submit your Packers prediction, I'm pretty sure mine will be 11-5 first place NFC North, no matter who the QB is. BK ________________________________ Anyone who thinks Brett Favre should be the starting QB for the packers in '08 doesn't understand how a winning team is built. The NFL season does not "start" in Aug...It is year round. If Favre didn't want to work with the team in the off season and plan new offensive plays and strategies, He's not interested in winning ball games. Mike McCarthy understands this, that is why he had to draw the line. Hell, for all we know the Pack might be planning to run a wishbone offense this year and Favre would still be a reckless gunner. Favre is great and will always be great, but it's too late this year.. unless he wants to study under Rogers and learn the new plays the team has been working on all year..if not, I'm sure Al Harris won't mind running back a few picks for TDs.. fat oakHey Fat Oak, Thanks for checking in... Ruppert below has the quote - "It's all about you", but my good friend Shane at Fat Oak Records has the song - All About You - Oh he's singing about a girl, but these days, it might just as well be about St. BF. This is just a test page for the song, and we're still developing the website so nothing is finalized, and he has many great songs, but listen to this song and read his lyrics, because it's relevant today for us Packers fans. BK ________________________________ You're on the money, BeerKid. I'm a lifelong Pack fan, not a lifelong Favre fan. This whole thing is bordering on tragedy. Like a friend of mine said yesterday, "This is sad because a week ago Favre was a legend. Now he's just another asshole." Salt Lake Cheeser ________________________________ Brett has become such a pop star that it makes me sick. Greta Van Susteren? Why not ESPN? I guess he didn't want to field any tough, football-related questions. And I'm going to curse at my TV tonight if he cries again... He said that when TT called him right after the draft, he figured it was because he wanted to ask him to come back. WHAT? Sure, Ted was going to say "Jeez Brett, I know we just drafted 2 QBs, but PLEASE come back so I'll have to cut one!!??" I get the feeling he's been sitting there expecting the team to come crawling to him to beg him back. And now that it didn't happen, he's pulling everything in the book to make us all feel sorry for him. If he really didn't want to retire in March, he should have just said "Sorry, I don't know yet...I need a few more months." Sure, they wanted an answer before that draft, but what would they have done? It's obvious they wouldn't have cut him. They would have had to wait. And they wouldn't have promised anything at A-Rod or the rest of the team. It's all about you, Brett. It's all about you. Ruppert ________________________________ ...I'm still waiting to hear the reason he retired, which he never got to that answer yesterday. Mentioned it briefly, but moved on to other things. Seemed like they danced around that subject. But I guess they have more for us to watch today. I have a feeling that even after today most of our questons still won't be answered. I'm trying to give him the benefit fo the doubt, but so far nothing that was said sheds enough light on the whole thing. He says that the truth needs to be told, and not just a half-truth or part of the story, but yet he hasn't said all that much that's clearing up the matter either. What a mess......sigh.... Lady K ________________________________ Well, here's my two cents: I don't really care what happens, as long as Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers on September 8, 2008. Brett Favre retired. Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy planned this season based on that. Whether Favre is the starting quarterback somewhere else, the backup quarterback in Green Bay or still retired (happy about it or not), it won't change one of the best eras in Packer history, and certainly the best era that I have been fully aware of, and it won't change the fact that Brett Favre was the largest part of it. Whether he is enshrined in Canton in 2012 or 2014 or 2020, his legacy won't be tarnished. Does anyone care that Reggie White made an ill-advised comeback after his retirement? Of course not, and neither will we care if Favre comes back, ill-advised or not. Thompson's and McCarthy's legacies are yet to be established, and if their decisions turn out to be bad ones, so be it. If hindsight treats them kindly, so be it. But the decisions are theirs to make, and no one, not even Saint Vincent, made only good decisions regarding the Packers. And if you happen to be a Brettophile let me remind you: it’s “Pack”4Life, not “Favre”4Life. Duane in Almost God's Country - Pack4Life! P.S. I've never seen a purple Favre. I never hope to see one, But I can tell you this right now... You know, I'm just gonna say I'd rather not see one, and leave it at that. ________________________________ 12 minus 4 = 8 reasons why I believe Brett will be hunting this fall and not thinking of playing Football 100%.
Party like it's 1991 ________________________________ "Moving on" is what the Packers have done, according to all official team mouthpieces, this spring. "Moving on" from what to what, I ask. If "moving on" now, does that mean they've treaded water since, um, when? Seems TT started "moving on" soon as he took over GM duties from Sherman. Seems the young, talented team in place now is the result of "moving on". "Moving on" included getting rid of Wahle and Rivera, not keeping them to please Favre and going with young receivers, not signing Moss to please Favre. Seems to me "moving on" is what a team must constantly do or they become Leonardo Dicaprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape_ "We're not going anywhere." I still maintain, although he doesn't want him back, TT will be forced to take him...unless he really believes Rodgers is the better option, whereupon he should have no fear letting Favre play wherever. If Brett is serious about playing this year, he must ask for his reinstatement. Once he becomes a Packer again, we'll see if "the scenery" changes. BK, if not being around for all team activities in the offseason is an eliminator, were you ready to heave Harris and Woodson the past few years? Go Pack! ________________________________ BK, Whoa! Can't remember seeing you like this! Have a Chimay and some WI cheese curds... Brett - You're absolutely right! As a former 3X NFL MVP, Super Bowl Champion, NFL QB Team Leader with 17 years experience, you should be leading your team during the off-season by practicing by yourself on a high school field 1,100 miles away, for 12 million dollars. You, you, TEAM guy, you! Greta - Thanks for helping Brett push the "SELF-DESTRUCT" button on (inter)national TV! Boz Hey Boz, thanks for worrying about my mental health, you weren't the only one, by 9am I had my 1 bottle of Stone IPA gone, and by the time I got back from store with the 2 large bottles of Chimay, I was calmed down enough to just ignore the BF commentary for awhile. Mental health was restored, but of course, it's a brand new day. BK ________________________________ ![]() Why not let the players that have contracts show up at camp and let the best players start? Isn't that what coaching staffs do? Determine who is the BEST at a position and put the BEST players on the field? Life is pretty simple in Old School Fan's house... Old School Fan Hey Old School Fan, stop making sense!!! Compete for a starting job on a football team, what an unique idea. BK ________________________________ If I were a Packer fan, I'd be disgusted with Favre. He had the opportunity to change his mind and he didn't. The season is starting soon and the Packers have to let Rodgers take control of the wheel. It seems to me that Favre is being selfish and he needs to get over it. Either way, it won't matter if it's Favre, Rodgers or Brohm at QB because the Vikings will take care of business. VIKING DAN Hey Viking Dan, I'm a day late replying to you, but no way, no how, will the always over-rated Vikqueens win in Green Bay this year, and most likely, won't beat us in the Dome either. Go Pack!!! BK ________________________________ I'm 40, been a Packers fan since 3rd grade. After hearing the coach told Brett returning is not an option, I'm done. I can't support TT and this coach. They have treated the Players like cattle. They should be having a limo picking Favre up, instead they treat him like this. No more TT BS, I am taking my name of the season ticket waiting list. No more Green Bay Packers for me. Everyone else enjoy watching your new QB relive the 80's ! Mark in Superior ________________________________ Your right on the money Beerkid. What a shame to have a great career end this way. #4 is showing that he is just another pampered athlete and he is gutting the Packers on his way out... Speak Out Spew Off...
![]() Brett On FOX News Tonight! Now were going to get Brett Favre's response to all of this crap that's been going on for a few weeks. Check out the advance article - Favre on Fox News tonight: Pack should let me play elsewhere - and get ready for some money quotes from Brett:
Anyway, I decided to lookup the story back March 2001 when Brett did sign that "life-time" contract with the Packers, a 7 year 100 million extension to an existing 3 year 21 million dollar contract that totaled up to 10 years 121 million. I know alot can change over the years, but here's some more money quotes from Brett:
I wonder what tough questions Brett is really going to get with Appleton native Greta Van Sustern, and it was strange choice to go to Fox News instead of the usual Sports Reporters, after all, Brett's clan has been leaking to those guys for weeks. My guess, Greta is a safe choice, so expect tonight that Brett will confirm that it's all TT's fault, and he won't be pushed on it. - I know I'm repeating myself here, but maybe something good for all of us will still have chance to come out of this mess.
I don't require BF to come back groveling on the ground and showering us all with money and chocolate cheese. I don't require him to publicly apologize to TT or MM, but I do require BF to actually decide if he wants to play by filing his re-instatement with the NFL Commish.
Go pack Go!!!!!!
Like a little girl would...
