David vs. Goliath... in 1955
Here's a Packers Game Day Program from 1955 against the Detroit Lions that's for sale over at EBay and it's probably the only time that the Lions have been portrayed in the Goliath role (#18 Slingin' the rock is Packer QB Tobin Rote). Back then Detroit was coming off quite a roll, they had been the 1952 and 1953 NFL Champions, and we're coming off a losing the 54' Championship Game. A force to be reckoned with... yet, the Packers won that season opening game in Green Bay 20-17. The Pack were Hairy Loined Giant Killers on that September day.
