Packers Beat 49ers 34-16...

So the Packers finally wake-up after a sluggish 1st quarter, and eventually take the game in hand by power running the football, well, at least on 3rd and 1 with John Kuhn a few times, and rookie RB James Starks was able to finally get on the field and show some of his stuff. Which looks damn good to this fan's sore eyes, Starks gets a respectable debut performance with 18 rushes for 73 yards. RB Brandon Jackson continues to shine as in-traffic runner with a great screen pass catch and run. QB Aaron Rodgers connected deep TD balls to Greg Jennings (57yds) and Donald Driver (61yds) with his 5th straight game without an INT.

Packers beat down the Niners, 34-16, improve their record to 8-4, which sits them at 2nd place NFC North, and 7th in the race for the 6 playoff spots. Good news, the Packers face the NY Giants and duh Chicago Bears so they will be able to control their destiny... by winning. Mike Vandermause explains it all - Packers Control Playoff Destiny with a detailed breakdown on how the Packers are set to take advantage of all the tiebreakers with NY and Chicago, by continuing to win.

Sorry Pack fans, those uniforms were ugly, now not the actual blue and gold jersey, but the brown helmets, the tan canvas pants we've seen before on the Packers other throw-back uniforms. Ugly. Whomever designed these things didn't bother to to imagine how they would look on TV. Ugly.

Now if I was in charge, I would have created an "alternate" Packers uniform, something like what I cobbled together over to the right from multiple Aaron Rodgers pics. Like I mentioned, the jersey was cool, the blue socks were OK, the rest was Ugly!

Other Kudo's go to Cullen Jenkins for 2 sacks, BJ Raji and Frank Zombo for each getting a sack. Nick Collins for a late-game INT, topped off by LB's Clay Matthews and AJ Hawk leading the defensive way. Packers needed a big win to keep their playoff drive alive, and in the cold air of Lambeau Field, they delivered.

Haven't commented in a while but you gotta love DD just refusing to go down and getting 6 !!!! great leadership and I think he set the bar high and the team responded. GO PACK GO!!!!!

The uniforms were ugly. Could the poor 1st half play be from the shock of embarrassment? Seriously, does anyone know if they practice in the throwback uniforms. I would think that the strange colors etc. could be tough getting used to.

Scott of Chippewa Falls

Hey Scott, well, we know the QB's wear red jerseys during practice, and the Pack's road uniforms are white, but really it's the brown helmets as compared to yellow helmets flying around. I'll guess the players only had the brown helmets on Sunday morning for pre-game activities.   BK

Just curious but has anyone ever brought up the idea of an alternative “Blaze Orange” jersey? You can’t tell me this wouldn’t present an interesting option on the opening weekend of deer season each and every year. You see enough “Blaze Orange” in the stands in the cold weather as it is, but now you have an excuse to wear your Packers jersey while you’re actually out hunting. Is anybody with me or am I just crazy?

CP

Hey CP, no argument from me on swapping in blaze orange for the Schoolbus yellow, imagine that, orange helmets with pine forest green jerseys. Otherwise I might pass on a Orange jersey... definitely the game would have to be played during the Hunting Season on the Sunday before or after Thanksgiving.   BK

I like that Starks kid, that looks promising. I know its incredibly early, but does anybody think Grant gets Wally Pipped? Too soon? At least this guy provides a play-action threat.

I concur BK. those uniforms were BAD. Hard to watch the game...jeez! The TV network should've gone 'throwback' as well, and shown the game in black-n-white! HAHA

PS with update...ahhh, here we go.....much better! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Too bad you don't appreciate the all history of Packer football BK, I love the uniforms. I was at the game and they were some of the greatest uniforms ever. Not to appreciate the uniforms for what they are is to ignore Packer history. They weren't made for TV who are you kidding? They also weren't trying to make a fashion statement, like most of 'em (broncos, viqueens, bengals).

It's really too bad that the uniforms have to look good on HDTV before a fan appreciates their historic value...your loss. It's really unfortunate that both teams don't wear throwbacks in the same game to make it complete.

Boz

Hey Boz, sure the picture of you and Joe standing next to each other for contrast between old and new, the throw-back uniforms looks OK, they could have kept the yellow pants and yellow helmets and "aged" appropriately, and had a combo throw-back/alternate uniform that was rocked!!!! Now ours is ranked right next to the Steelers Brown-Yellow with White pants odd looking uniform as the ugliest I've seen. Cool that you were at the game and the Packers kicked ass, that's the best way to enjoy watching them play on December day.   BK

Style doesn't matter on the football field. It didn't in 1929, it doesn't now. Just be thankful that we have a past to brag about.

Kansas PackHawk

Hey Ks PackHawk, the NFL Powers That Be should have allowed the Niners to wear their Red Throw-Backs uniforms... It's a good bet I probably would have kept my mouth shut on the whole fashion design style deployed by the teams for the game.   BK

Oh I said the same thing BK. Why didn't we wear them against the Bears or Giants even? They all have numerous throwbacks from the 20's/30's that would have been awesome in a cold weather game at Lambeau.
