Packers Win 27-20, 1st Place NFC North...
Packers win 27-20 over the Philadelphia Eagles in their first game of the year in a place they haven't won in nearly 50 years. I didn't expect much else, the Packers looked sloppy at key points but woke up late in the 2nd quarter and during the 3rd quarter to gain a 27-10 lead before relaxing a little and letting QB Michael Vick run and pass the Eagles back into the game. Packers are 1-0 and sitting on top of the NFC North. Well, tied with the Bears who won their opener over the Detroit Lions on a unique call. Originally, a Referee was using this criteria to judge a WR falling out of bounds, maintaing possession of the ball after contact with the ground, out of bounds. Now, a WR like Calvin Johnson, can't make a wild catch in the end-zone with 2 feet down, a hip down, a hand down, hand sliding out of bounds, hand with ball down, fumble??? That's 5 contact points down in the field of play after defensive contact and it's ruled an incomplete pass. Correct call??? Bad rule. BeerKid - Always Pack 4 Life! |

Maybe we could trade for Michael Vick Sheepdog ______________________________________ Can we put Harrell out to pasture? What a waste of a roster spot. Too bad about Grant. Is there anyone available to pick up? Pack Fan in Texas ______________________________________ #66Chica: Interesting question about Childress. On one hand, it's hard to imagine that Childress could possibly suck any more than he sucks right now. But on the other hand, it seems highly likely that he'll keep on sucking and sucking forever. It might be a trick question, too, because I'm not sure if one snake will actually bite another snake. Regarding Calvin Johnson, this is a case where a to-the-letter interpretation of a rule clearly got in the way of what 20 million people could see from a mile away. It might not have conformed to the written rule, but we all know he caught the damn ball. When BF's true colors were shown he forced some fans to make a decision they found painful, other fans, like me, were pissed at finding out what a self-centered Diva they had supported for years. Do I wish BF ill? NO but if he never wins another game it's OK with me. dfarmer
______________________________________Beer Kid, Here's a Sept. 11 related story for you. Being a lifelong Packer fan now living on the east coast I try to attend at least one game a year at Lambeau. In 2008 I had two tickets to the Colts game on Oct. 19 and was planning to attend with my son. At the last minute he was deployed early to Afghanistan and couldn't join me. I traded my two end zone tickets for one on the 50 behind the Packers bench. After the fly-over the guy next to me saw a tear in my eye and said his son had returned from Iraq a couple of months earlier. After I told him my story he stood up and repeated it to the entire section. I soon had my own (or I should say my son had his own) standing ovation. Also, I enjoyed so much free beer I could hardly walk out of the place - and of course the Pack won the game. I'll be back this week with some friends to witness the win over the Bills. My son is safe and home at the moment but will soon return for his 7th 60-day tour. Packer fans are the greatest! east coast fan Hey east coast fan, awesome story, thanks, enjoy the Packers Bills game, send thanks to your son, and yes, Packer fans are the greatest, and everyone has a little trouble walking out of Lambeau Field after a Packers win.
