 This is deeply disturbing. Nearly two decades ago a newspaper columnist wrote, "Good Wisconsin boys grew up hating the Chicago Bears. Good Wisconsin boys would watch their fathers watch the Packers and Bears play on television and their dads would snarl, 'I hate the Bears!'" Truer words were never written (although the columnist neglected to mention good Wisconsin moms and daughters grew up feeling the same way, if not more so.) This was certainly the case in my home... Speak Out Spew Off...
 In regards to the Super Bowl XLI: So far this NFL playoff season almost every team I've picked to win has lost... So I'm in a big quandary here... I can't root for the Bears... but If I root against them, my current track record says they'll win, can't have that. I like the Colts a little bit, well really it's the Peyton Manning commercials, that the only thing I like about the Colts... sigh! I think I'll just go back to rooting for the Packers and let the rest of it shake out and settle down as the Super Bowl is wont to do.BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life! _______________________ Like they say "THE BEARS STILL SUCK". I don't like either team that is in the Super Bowl. Manning's lip when he does sometime wrong and root for Da Bears, It's NOT going to happen. Packer Fans need to click and read: Bears fan mail. The Colts passing game is much better than the Panther's one that chewed up the Bears the other year!!! I think the AFC has eliminated 3-4 teams that are better than the Bears. But it's one game and if you have a bad game, that's it. That's why they play the games. I'm happy to see some new blood, I wanted to see the Pats play again in the SB, about as much as I'd like a hole in my head. Mindy and I didn't actually get into the game the day this was taken but we had a HELL OF A TIME getting drunk at the stadium view bar and celebrating another Packer victory. and i'll say it again, i have never been to Lambeau for a loss. 1 more year Brett.... one more year..... Speak Out Spew Off...
 Hey Everyone, it's been a hard 3 weeks at work (I'm a one-man gang) to start the year and there's been some Packers news but otherwise not much going in the NFL football world but the current Conference Championships games today, we have the New Orleans Saints against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, and we have the New England Patriots against the Indianapolis Colts at RCA Dome. To keep it simple, I'll just go with Saints over Bears, Patriots over Colts. BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life! __________________________ I'm sick of it. And tired. I'm sick and tirted of hearing that Brett Favre may retire because he's through the routine of an NFL season sixteen times already and it may be wearing on him. Hell, I've been through the routine of my job for nineteen "seasons" and sometimes it wears on me. But I'm good at what I do, I still enjoy it, it still challenges me, and they still pay me. So I keep coming back for another (and another, and another, and another...) Favre is still better than good at what he does, he still seems to enjoy it, I believe he feels it challenges him still, and we know how well he still gets paid. So everyone-you too, Brett if this applies-stop worrying that the tedium or monotony of another terrible horrible no good very bad offseason routine will be the deciding factor for whether he's back for another year. A Photographer Like Me...
 So this is one of my favorite Christmas Presents this year. A previously framed photo from an Appleby's in Milwaukee (Thanks Bro') that shows who I believe to be are Mike McCoy (on the left) with Willie Buchanon (with ball) returning an interception 77 yards for a touchdown way back in 1978. If I was a photographer standing at the goal-line watching the game, I can't imagine myself doing anything else but exactly what this young man was doing. Arms straight up in the air while celebrating a TD for the Packers. Taking a picture, or cheering for the Pack? Hmmmmmmm, like I said, he's A Photographer Like Me... BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life! Speak Out Spew Off...With Duane In Almost God's CountryHey Beer Kid (and all you other Faithful,) The airwaves and ether are pleasantly (relatively) quiet regarding Favre’s future. So let me take this opportunity to make just a little noise about it. I looked back, as I’m wont to do this time of year, at my blathering from earlier in the season. Here’s what I threw out there after the second game, when the Packers were 0-2:  This team is only going to get better as the season rolls along. Yes, they are going to lose games, but sometime around Week 7 things will start to click, they'll win more than they lose the last half of the season and maybe, just maybe, Brett sees promise and comes back for just one more year.Well, the team did get better as the season progressed, and they did lose some games, like every other team. In Week 7 they did start to gel, impressively beating the Dolphins in South Florida to start a 3-1 run (and they should have beaten the Bills in that stretch, too.) The three-game losing skid that followed was to three eventual playoff teams, after which they finished 4-0, giving themselves a 5-3 record over the second half of the season. I don’t point theses things out to show how prescient I am, but rather to get to my last point, that Brett just has to see all of this, too. And on top of all that, to come ever so close to making the playoffs, he just has to conclude that coming back for a concerted run at making the playoffs next year is the right thing to do, for him and the team. An early look ahead to the 2007 NFC North is promising for such a run. Historically, defensive domination lasts only about 3 seasons in this league, and 2006 is Chicago’s third season of strength on that side of the ball. And in 2006 we got that long-awaited look at just how good Rex Grossman can be when he doesn’t get hurt. How good he can be seems to be “not very”. Assuming the decline of the defense, plus how far the offense has to go to be even good, and the fact that there is no way the special teams will score as often next year, the Bears will be positioned perfectly to be knocked off by the Packers in 2007. I am amazed and delighted that the ‘Queens just can not get through a season without controversy, dysfunction and collapse. The team that was supposed to challenge the downsliding Bears for the division title underachieved spectacularly. Brad Childress, the coach we’re glad we didn’t get a chance to hire, got to experience, and even facilitate the second-half swoon that has become the ‘Queens’ trademark. He has taken a team on the verge of post-season play and put them in rebuilding mode in the course of his first season at the helm. Oh, and let’s not forget that this is the team that spent cap money out the wazoo in the off-season. No amount of talent can overcome internal strife and discontent, so don’t look for them to bounce back soon. The Lions of course were, are and will continue to be the Lions. I’m as anxious as all of you to hear those magical words, “I’m coming back,” come out of Favre’s mouth, and it can happen none too soon for any of us. Here’s to astute free-agent maneuvering, fair contract restructuring for those who deserve it, and a studious, fruitful draft by Ted Thompson. The future’s so bright, I gotta wear (green and gold) shades. The Party's Over...
 The Packers season is done. We kind of end on a high note, beating the Bears 26-7 in Chicago, finishing up at 8-8, but there's still a lot on the table for this upcoming year. Players to sign, Players to convince, Players to push out the door, Players to draft. No reason to stop drinking... stay the course!BeerKid - Still Pack 4 Life! I'm broken-hearted, With all that this entails, It takes some concentrated drinking, To keep me on the rails... I don't wait 'til I'm sober, 'Til I get drunk again, I drink at home, I drink out, I drink in cocktail bars, Falling down, Seeing stars, It suits me... That said, the team would have to get some series for Rodgers to play, because you need to move him along with the team. Favre is close enough to snag the records and getting too old for more than one year. All that said.... stats are for losers. Brady will have how many SB rings and Manning all these records beat before long anyway (barring major injury). As for replacing Jags........ I'll say once again, take New England's waterboy if thats all you can get from them, but steal from the rich. Find someone of theirs!!! I think at 8-8, that's also a good time to hand it over to Rodgers, as the expectations following Favre will be high, he'd get to step into a spot on a mediocre team and wouldn't be held to as high expectations. Bye Shotty Baby!!! To be continued...... Long Live the Pack!!! _________________________ Part II..... As for the Defense, everyone's Rah, Rah!! They finished the season in a bad spot for me. A few games before these last four, they were getting shredded by good teams, but yet at the end, they were playing good against the crappier teams, like you expect a good defense to do. So I needed to see one more game against a good team this year to see what they are. I think you kind of leave things alone and see what you have next year. Keep drafting players and plug them in when they 're an upgrade. It's just too hard to tell what they were as a defense at the end due to the crappy teams they were playing. Maybe they're close or maybe if the Pats and Jets showed up the next two weeks, they'd pummel them again??? To be continued...  Long Live the Pack!!!_________________________ Part III... next year they won't end up w/a bunch of sub .500 teams to play after finishing second. The offense needs to improve and should with a year under the O-line's belt. They need a TE. Martin goes down in a couple games if he has to fill-in and Bubba probably a blocker now and if the cap # isn't too steep, you keep. But they need a threat!!! Green is a good back, pay him good money and keep him. Now you have two that can play. Robinson will be back next year... and he can play. the 4's and 5's got some time this year, grade them and see what you have. Just need to find some players, a couple studs (one for the D-line), get the consistancy and mentality right, and get the play calling unpredictable and schemed up and you've probably got yourself closer yet. I like how the Pats change colors, week to week. Hard to gameplan for a team when you don't know who'll be coming that week!! E-ya, come draft time, BeerKid. Take care Packer Land!!!
