Packers 3rd Place NFC North! 6-10...
| Some of you may have noticed, others not, but I tend to drink way more when the Packers win... I know it's Wednesday, and it did take this long to clear my head, but I had 5 straight games where I was forced to cut off my drinking early. Packers roll the Lions 31-21 and finish out there year 6-10, dropping the Lions to the infamous 0-16 record that Organization so richly deserved, and now, is the 0-26 record of the creamsicle Buccaneers in jeopardy.... I hope so. The Brett Favre Trade fiasco ends up only at a 3rd round pick, the mighty Jets, once at 8-3 and in command, drop to 9-7, out of the playoffs, and looking for a new coach while the speculation ramps up that BF needs arm/shoulder surgery. Oh well, he was able to deposit another 13 million in the bank last year, but who's going to give even 2 million to a near 40 year old QB who throws 22 INT's against 22 TD's, no one. BF may finally have the injury that ends his career... Oh wait, that's right, the Jets will release him and he'll be playing for the Vikqueens next year. I can't wait... Rumors are in Denver that Mike Shanahan was fired for refusing to fire defensive coordinator Bob Slowik, who if you remember, after being promoted to DC for a year, was kind of run out of Green Bay for not getting his defense to play at a level considered to be NFL average. No big surprise, he couldn't get it done down in Denver either. I like Greg Jennings, I believe he likes the Packers, it now comes down to GM Ted Thompson and what he's willing to give. If you look at how RB Ryan Grant's new contract was structured last year, with all the incentives, is probably not the way to go. Why? Look at what happened this year, he holds out, he's not ready for the 1st game of the year, and he missed the 1250 yard mark that would have giving him another million plus in salary. There has to be some resentment there on Grant's part, 4 more runs maybe he gets it, maybe because RB DeShawn Wynn got his carries, Ryan Grant did not. Anyway, TT should just set up Greg Jennings as a the top-5 WR, then in a few years, the contract will slide down a little and he'll fall into the top-10 of WR's, which is closer to his value. We are home against the usual gang of idiots in our division Bears, Lions, and Vikings plus Arizona, St.Louis, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and more than likely Philly if not probably Dallas or Washington. GO PACK! http://chunky.com/ClickForCansPlayoffBrackets.aspx Click 4 Pack _______________________________ Cheers from Nebraska!!!!!!! Hey I don't think the Pack is that far away. We lost alot of close games. I like the coach, and I think Rodgers did a nice job this year. We do need some help on the defense, but we did have alot of injuries there. As far as Ted Thompson, I really don't see why people are so hard on him. Look at all of the players that just continue to show up and contribute. Ryan Grant, Will Blackman, Tramon Williams, Ruvell Martin, Donald Lee etc. , etc. He has hit way more home runs then strike outs. The only thing I can disagree with is the punter situation. Favre obviously made a mistake. He should of took the three mill and hung about in G.B. and pressed skin. Aarron Rodgers is the real deal and this team is not far away from being contenders. Look how young we are and then look around the leaugue. Go to Packers.com and click on players. It shows years of experience. I bet our average is 3 years. We are young with alot of talent. There is really good things in our future. Oh by the way, I bought a Badger hat when I was up for the Colts game, Is Bilema on the hot seat? I am expecting all of you Packer Palace chronies to cheer for the Huskers as your waking up from your New Years Eve hangover to beat those Clemson Tigers. Speak Out Spew Off...
We finally made it to the last game of the year for the 2008 Green Bay Packers, and wow, what a match-up between 2 of the worst teams in the league for the final half of this NFL Season. Yeah, the Pack started at 4-3 before collapsing, and yeah, we know the Lions are now 0-8 in this stretch, but the Packers are sitting right behind them at 1-7. Yup, 2 of the worst teams in the league right now. So what kind of game will this make for today, the Lions haven't won in Wisconsin since the very early 90's, and with an outdoor December game today, don't expect them to drop form and start playing to win in GB. The Packers offense will score enough to win this game outright, it has become apparent that it is the defense that can't do squat when it's time to shut the other team's offense down. Today on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field... The Pack Prevail. They should be able to close out their season over the "The Team That Matt Millen Made" with a win, something like 23-12 and finish this lost-chances year at 6-10. Happy New Year!!! | _____________________________ Ted Thompson's Genius = Convincing Packer fans that 5-10 is building for the future. Ryan _____________________________ What is left to say??? Merry Christmas !! Coach Carl _____________________________ Firstly brilliant Christmas card down there, I just love it, and thank you for the position of prominence given my last spiel about my beloved. Now sir, if you can just direct me to the t shirt I saw in 93 or so at a Dead show that you really had to look close to see it said Green Bud Packers, seemed to have been conceived by the same mind that came up with that exquisite Santa and the Cheesehead honeys you see on this page, close to paradise, or life as Paul "on my gravestone I want written that I went thru life on a scholarship" Hornung. Anyways though I made emotional reference in my last rant to the seventies teams and comparison to the current one, really the only comparison is the won lost record. I really am with mecow down there and will say this team is close to being stupid good, obviously more bodies in the d line, (stud welcome but moreso just quality depth), a return to a reasonable amount of penalties from the likes of Tony Moll, a reasonable amount of injuries, and I believe most importantly, a re committment to special teams. Guys are startin on the 40 again, excellent recipe to get beat. Please speed the day when Travis Jervey is put in the Packer Hall of Fame, maybe with Mike Prior, cannot recall a better Packer special teams player than Jervey, and I do remember Travis Williams returning those kicks in 67, I am talking about containment and teams regularly starting inside their 30, inside their 20 is ideal. I name checked Barty Smith, Eric Torkleson and Jerry Tagge last time, but truly there is no one I am aware of on the current squad who is that level of NFL average, and I am being kind to say average. Truly there is reason for massive optimism in Green Bay but in the meantime might have to absorb a nightmare season capper with the Lion. Gotta quickly add that the goal I would like to see is to make damn sure number 80 Donald Driver does not leave his time in Green Bay without a big old fat ring on his hand. I mean has this guy been a great Packer or what? We had another number 80 here, James Lofton, who never really got much of a chance to dream about a Packer ring, but this 80 is on a different team, and with a life story that can bring tears to your eyes, so proud of this guy, brass balls. ray _____________________________McStimpy, you fat bloated eediot!!!! Packers 3rd Place NFC North! 5-10...
We see the same thing game after game, take the lead late by playing for FG's, at no point play aggressive enough to get ahead by 2 scores, and we get the finish that can't be delivered on, AR gets no help from the special teams unit, and the packers (yes, lower case 'p', lower tier team, etc) drop their 10th loss of the year to the Bears 17-20... in overtime... BeerKid - Still Pack For Life!_______________________ I think I'm going to the basement. A dark, yes, very dark basement. Coming up after the season. CAMP _______________________ Brett Favre would've made that kick..... Prepare for the ultimate indignity, Packer fans. The Lions finish 1-15. It's just that kind of year. Though I am not ready to watch the Bucks and count the days til pitchers and catchers show up in Maryvale. This year has been bad, but I can't wait for the day that TT signs "THE 2ND COMING OF #92" this offseason to the D-line, and then I won't hate him anymore. All is not right with the universe but like Mecow said our luck could change in one offseason. Thanks to the Packer Palace Support Group. GOOSEFRABBA. Chris _______________________ The Packers are starting to come into focus now that we have had enough time to digest a failed season. The loss to the Bears did not upset me as much as it should have because I really don't think it mattered to anyone but the Bear and Viking fans who are dreaming that either of their teams is any good. I am not a Ted Thompson basher and I think that calls for his head are way off base at this point. Ditto for McCarthy. Talking about firing McCarthy is a waste of time since it just is not going to happen. I have concluded that the Packers made an enormous mistake by trading Corey Williams. I believe they were incorrectly thinking that Harrell would get on the field and be a stud. He is not and they miss Williams. That single decision exposed the fact that KGB had slowed a step and that Kampman would not be able to get sacks without someone on the other end giving him some help. With that weakened D-Line play, the Packers put a lot of pressure on the linebackers who looked much better. That exposed Hawk and Poppinga as less talented than they looked last year. When Barnett went down, the Packers turned into the Pretenders. EVERYTHING else stems from this one mistake. (2 mistakes if you count the Harrell pick) Since the defense could no longer get off the field, it put pressure on the offense to score and that changed the game plans. While this is all like letting your nose drip into your Papst, I believe that the Packers will be better next year if we can get the defense a couple of players. I know that there are those who will point to any number of other shortcomings like offensive line, special teams, a quarterback that does not pull wins out of his ass, etc. Fix the defense and those other problems will fade. Let's now hope that the Lions can't put one together and the Packers have an easy game to close out the year. draftfan _______________________ Just as I said last week, the season has now been reduced to sweeping the Bears and making sure the Lie-downs remain winless. Yippee. It's too bad I don't have the confidence in this team to believe they can even to THAT. Ruppert _______________________ If you're gonna beat the Pack, better do it this year! What's with all the doom and gloom? So this season was a bust? It just happened that there was a perfect storm of shit that all went down at the same time. It happens... this is the NFL we're talking about here. Teams go to conference championships and then miss the playoffs the next year ALL THE TIME. They also suck (see falcons, bears, dolphins, cardinals) and then make the playoffs the next year ALL THE TIME! We've got a QB (which is more than 50% of the league can say) and we're out from under the thumb of the diva - BF (who's lookin' pretty familiarly old in the cold right now isn't he?). Better times are on the horizon. Don't abandon ship! Let's all pull together and focus on beating the hated bears!!! mecow _______________________ Some of you need to get off your Favre knee pads. The Packers problems this year have little to do with quarterback. They need and offensive and defensive line. If and it's a big if we get that turned around - on offensive I think it's new personnel not named Colledge, Spitz or Moll, the Pack will do fine next year. For today, let's beat the Bears! Speak Out Spew Off...
| Santa, you got me a beating from the Lions don't you as the final cherry on top of this, the most nightmarish if not the worst year of Packer football I have ever been exposed to. And the last time the Lions beat us in Green Bay was 1991, if I recall we had the esteemable Blair Kiel barking out the signals on a bitter cold sunny day. In a perverse sense its sort of good that an entire generation of Packer fans who have grown up knowing little but levels of success have their mettle tested by this generations versions of Eric Torkleson, Barty Smith and Jerry Tagge. You will notice hundreds of thousands jumping off the Packer wagon onto the flavor of the year or their local team if it is doing well, believe me I saw this happen in Chicago with Packer fans who caught the lightning of all or part of the Lombardi years. If only the door could be securely locked when they try to re enter when the Pack re establishes itself in 2025, I can only hope I am exaggerating, having lived through this once. I am and do remain a resolute Packer Backer since 65. The professional side of my team should have a rage in their belly that might send a Bear or two hobbling to the sidelines. I think the spirit of Nitschke and Chuck Cecil should permeate that Bear game, play like bitter people who have been wronged or risk the Bear faithful celebrating over your corpse. ray ____________________________________Fire the Q-Tip (Teddy Thompson) and bring back Brett! McCarthy, you are as dumb as a rock. Frank in Waterford Hey Frank, the only way the play works is if the LB shys away from blocks, surprise! the FB has the ball instead this time... that's probably AR's option, and well, that play only works against our defense. BK ____________________________________ The Packers are a big mystery right now. Rogers has been pretty good despite not pulling out the wins when he could have or should have, but for a first year, I am happy to say that the Packers should have a good QB for the future. A lot of teams have struggled to get that right over a long period of time. I am still where I was last year on the offensive line. I am not a big fan of the style that they are using. Grant did get 1,000 yards with is meaningless to everyone except him. Where they failed was in giving the Packers a punch when needed. Getting stuffed so many times helps the defense on the other side of the ball. I like a big line. Tauscher should be the prototype, not the exception. I am also not a fan of the defensive style that the Packers play. Lack of pressure from the front 4 is not going make anyone behind them look good. Hawk and Poppinga are being exposed by the loss of Barnett and the D-backs are getting creamed. The teams that are getting the job done in the NFL right now have dominating lines on both sides of the ball. Anyone who things we can go anywhere without good line play is dreaming. We might blame Ted Thompson for his bad decision to let a good D Tackle go, but who would have expected the defense to fold after that. The good news is that we should get a couple of high draft picks this year. The bad news.....TT does not like to pay for high draft picks. draftfan ____________________________________ I think yesterday was the 7th time we've either tied or gone ahead in the 4th quarter, only to watch the other team drive down the field to win. The defense is the reason we're 5 and 9, and we're losing with basically the same personnel we won with last year. Losing our best defensive lineman and middle linebacker has hurt. I agree with the TT criticism that he did not add to the defensive side of the ball, but in general he has turned around a team in terrible shape personnel wise and cap wise in a very, very short period of time. I believe he will address the problems on the defense--primarily defensive line--this off-season and draft. We'll be fine next year. Rogers is fine, not as good as The Diva in his MVP years, but I don't think having The Diva on the team would have made much of a difference. JBlood24 ____________________________________ Sorry Guys If I don't root for the vikes I root for Pack--- anybody but the bears. He says his old quarterback Garcia is gay (to deflect away from himself, Then he has a falling out with McNabb, then he's jealous of Romo and Jessica and tells her to stay away from his quarterback in a tearful fit. Now he's jealous of Witten and Romo and who ever else that Romo passes too. He works out in front of a mirror in in his front yard in a pair of shorts. When the vikings blow it the last game of the season which I'm sure Chilly capable of doing. The Pack and Vikes can agree on one thing at least we don't have Owen on our team. Having said that if the Cowboy's let him go I sure Chilly will pick him up. ILviking Hey ILviking, as far as TO is concerned, you don't have to be gay to be a drama queen. Well-as a difficult season for the Packers begins to fade (thankfully) into the tortured memories of the faithful, the questions remain..what happened and why??? Anyway-maybe beating the Bears will brighten the outlook for the holiday season. The Vikings really only have one tough opponent for the rest of the season...themselves. Complacency has beaten this team so many times in the past--will "Coach Chilly" be skilled enough to deflect it this year?....... We'll see.... Carl "Gator" Nelson |

Hey BeerKid...
| Well my aggravation is somewhat subdued by the fact I was at the game today and actually saw some of our players. Greg Jennings by the way is the classiest WR in the league! That guy signed my jersey and even shot the bull with me for a minute. Justin Harrell on the other hand was the biggest dick ever! He didn't look happy getting on the bus. The weather at the game was great and very un-Wisconsin. |

Packers 3rd Place NFC North! 5-9...
It's Packer Sunday and we'll be off to the bar (The Daily Pint in Santa Monica) to see what team the Packers have taken to Jacksonville. These 2 teams have had similar seasons, high expectations dashed by the reality of actually having to play the games each week. I always feel that the Packers are on the edge of blowing teams out, similar to that 37-3 shellacking we had on the Bears earlier this year, and even though our defense can't stop a kid on a tricycle from crossing the line for a 1st down, I still expect the Packers to win big today. Expect 26-14 to be in the general area of Packer dominance that will result in a win today... Go Pack Go! Update: I hope most of you are betting the opposite of what I'm saying... Packers can't deliver in the end after teasing the whole game long and believe it or not, I missed someone's pre-game phone-call for BeerKid before I made it to the bar, yeah we were late, but still made it 1 minute before the top of the hour. Oh yeah, Packers lose 16-20 and the Fat Lady is body flopping and steamrolling over the Packers playoff-chances grave, which is thanks to her weighted graciousness, now 6-1/2ft under. | _________________________ A painful separation form Brett Favre was inevitable, with or without retirement. To quote Lombardi: it's better to cut a player a year too soon than a year too late. My beef with Ted Thompson is that he didn't add depth to the D this year, 1 free agent (Chillar) and majority of draft picks have been on O side of ball. GreenBayLA _________________________ Holy Crap I scored tickets to the game! Is there a address I can send some pics to? I love watching the PACKERS BUT IT JUST WON'T FEEL RIGHT WEARING SHORTS AND MY GB JERSEY in almost 70 degree weather today... I have some picsfor you guys I love the Palace and sorry for my last post... when I "DRUNK-TYPE" there is no telling what kind of poison these fingers of mina are capable of when bad football and alcohol are combined. Chris WI boy in FL Hey Chris, Be Bold, Wear your Green and Gold!!! Have fun today. BK _________________________ I said the Pack would win 5 games this year. Since TT took over, how many wins/loses? How many the 10 years before he arrived? Maybe another 2-3 days of this shit, you will stop defending him. Next year: 6-10. Tony _________________________TT's Genius = Convincing Packer fans that 5-8 is building for the future. Ryan _________________________ Woah BeerKid? I know there's a time zone thingie between Wisconsin and California... but? Lemondrop _________________________ Hopefully we can at least still foul up the Bears season, the only problem with that is it opens the door for the Vikings. Since Viking fans are moderately less aggressive and we don't have any more chances to mess with them, please beat the Bears. Maybe show the team a few times the press conference from when Lovey Smith got the Bear job where he made it a point to say beat Green Bay. I was at the game in 68 at Wrigley where the Bears needed that game to get to the playoffs and Don Horn threw for about 400 yards to snatch the playoff opportunity from the Bear. And never forget the great delight the Ditka Bears took in beating us in those years. Ray _________________________ First Packer game I ever attended was 1986 Lambeau vs. Vikings. Packers lost. We are back to that feeling now again in the "Thompson era." I predicted a 6-10 this year on this board back in August. I may be right? It all starts with the Field General, folks. (Peyton/Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Ben R., Brett Favre) MPLSPCKR _________________________ Thompson must go!!!!! Bring Favre Back!!!!! McPackers _________________________ To think a year ago at this time I was prepping to go to the Lions-Packers game knowing that I wouldn't get to see Brett play a whole game because we had a LOCK on the division. Sigh. Damn you, TT. Damn you. foundinidaho _________________________ I live here in Kansas City where for years about 20 or so GM Carl Peterson has single handedly screwed the living daylights out of this team. The fans hate this moron with a burning passion. Rich Gannon and Jared Allen were shown the door which further enraged the rabid fanbase. They pack that damn Arrowhead Stadium game after game despite threats of blackouts on TV. Some of these same people are pissed angry at KC and vent it at Peterson and the Hunt family vowed never to watch or go to a game until someone gets fired. I'm at that point I fell in love with this team and continue to do so. But like a family or spouse they can do something that can anger the crap out of you. Still Green Bay is the greatest team on the planet and I mean that truly. And as far as being a Favre fan (like that is horrible) suppose Rodgers gets big and becomes the face of the franchise maybe not the records that #4 has broken or continues to break, but nonetheless become a true leader and feared league wide, should he decide to retire and come back should he be dogged like you know who or will the story change by then. When a team has a superstar player and they are known all over that attracts new fans it happens in every sport every day. They love that player and later fall in love with the team they are on. We are all fans of something in our own was no one sits and judges such devotion and shouldn't. I'm mad at the pack and I have that right to be Duane in almost god's country think about that. My Pack Ain't Brilliant...
My Pack ain't good. I saw a devil. Of that I'm sure. he smiled at me from the skybox. he was with another fan. But I won't lose no sleep on that, 'Cause Ted T's got a plan. (yea right) You're pitiful, You're pitiful, You're pitiful, it's true. I saw your face in a crowded place, And I don't know what to do, 'Cause we'll never win with you. Yes, he caught my eye, As I beer-runned by. he could see from my face that I was, Fucking pissed, And I don't hope that I'll see him again, But we shared a moment that will last till the end. Spew Off Speak Out...
____________________________It's Thursday and I am still pissed!!! I demand that heads roll... Thompson for not addressing the DE position and not canning that worthless punter. McCarthy for just looking like a friggin idiot on the sidelines and acting like nothing is wrong in his news conferences. Sanders for being a huge puzzy and not blitz scheming to make up for the lack of passrush. Stock for well do I really need to explain... Lucky Hey Lucky, As Am I... Pissed that is, umm you did mean that in a "drinking" way. Oh right... BK ____________________________ Oh gees. We are watching what it looks like to scrape the bottom of a barrel. How much fun is this? 3 and out. 3 and out. FRUSTRATION? anyone? Lemondrop ____________________________ It's me again!!! I so pissed I don't even know what day it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky Hey Lucky, See this is why I thought you meant that in a "drinking" way, being pissed and all, 'cuz I frequently don't know what day it was, or is, maybe... but I do drink. BK ____________________________ Yeah.. ok, the season's pretty much over for the Pack but it's not on Aaron Rogers, since the offense has the 4th most points fielded in the league at 355. (Only the Saints, Giants, and Cardinals have scored more. As I see it, weak run D, stupid offensive line penalties and lousy kickoff coverage is why we're 5-8. The bright side... Rogers had a respectable year, played all the games and will be throwing darts next year, and the Jets will be looking for a QB when Farve retires for the third time.. Go Bears.. Vikings still suck and will no doubt choke again... fatoak Hey Fat Oak, is it the defensive playcall, we know that when the safeties don't make big plays they get caught over pursuing along bad angles... injuries... the Pack don't have a legit DE opposite Aaron Kampman. BK ____________________________ Just like I said last week: This year is now down to hoping we sweep the Bears, and hoping we can somehow make the Lions go 0-16. Yippee. Ruppert Hey Ruppert, Wait a week yet... the season hasn't been reduced to just those two things, it can still happen with a collapse of the Vikes, Yippee, more losses by the Bears, Yippee, and win-out by the Packers, double Yippee, so we can include those 2 things, but wait before being reduced to only those 2 things... BK ____________________________ It just ain't there for the Packers right now. Most of the problems seem like they are on defense, but that can be hard to determine when the offense is getting no first downs which keeps the defense on the field. I have not been a major Sanders fan since he took over. He does not seem to be able to design a pressure game that works and is way too predictable. The same can be said for some of the offensive play calling. That might just be mistakes due to age, but the Packers are pretty predictable. That being said, they are not many plays from having a much better record and leading the division. Last year now looks like a fluke and probably hurt them in the draft more than anything. draftfan Hey draftfan, the Packers defense hasn't won a super bowl since the Cowboys have won one... yeah that long. I believe a-change is coming this off-season... which doesn't help now. BK ____________________________ What the hell....yet again the Packers dig out of a hole, only to lose in the last 60 seconds of the game. Before bitching too much, my hat goes off to the Packers offense. Though slow at times, the only reason we've been in any game this season is because of our offense (by this I mean BF is not the reason we suck). That blame lies with the defense which has been nothing more than flat all season, if they aren't rushing 200+ on us, then they're passing 350+ all over the field. Time to tell Bob Sanders to turn it up a notch and get this defense back on track. Potts Hey Potts, I never like the 3 and out to open a game... you have to design your plays better than that. The Packers might have to wake up and decide that if they don't score on every offensive series, it unlikely they'll win the game, the D can help with points, but the D can't hold with the game on the line. BK ____________________________ Count me in as one of TT's rapidly diminishing supporters, though to say my faith has not taken a severe blow would not be true. While a worse than average year for injuries, still very troubling scenarios early in the year as regards the amount of penalties. Having said that I know intelligence is a quality that TT puts a high premium on, and I believe he is correct to do so. I have never seen the evidence that in any way he pushed Brett out of Green Bay, (making preparations for such a day was and is his job), and until Brett comes out with his tell all biography it appears I will not believe otherwise. I still believe we are in very good hands but the steadfastness of my belief is crumbling. I barely care if we beat the Bears and fear a loss to the Lions. Is this 1974? Barty Smith, Eric Torkleson, Jerry Tagge? No, its definitely not that bad yet. Darn you Brett, I think you have cursed the Packers, you have eaten of the evil apple. Ray Hey Ray, I think most of us our becoming aware that TT's quality depth draft picks are decent special teams players (actually, the jury is out on that) and don't appear to be talented enough to fill starting roles sufficiently when called upon... BK ____________________________ The defense: I haven't experienced a crap like that since I was 10 days into rehab and my buddy showed up with an 8 ball! Except mine didn't stink up the place as bad! Packer Jim ____________________________simply put... pathetic nickl ____________________________ I'm finding it increasingly difficult to watch another Packer game this season. And despite how the masses on this site feel about Favre right now. You can't help, at least I can't help but to feel that TT's and MM's preseason antics are coming back to bite them in the ass. If suppose Favre and his Jets happen to land in the Super Bowl and actually mess around and win the damn thing. Then I guess he will still be deemed a crybaby and an asshole. I could be patient and give the Green and Gold the benefit of the doubt but my sneaking feeling is that it will wind up smelling and looking like the days of the 80's when Green Bay was a joke. And though in that magic land of unwritten rules that no one person has created, if you should jump off the bandwagon well you might as well be drawn and quartered even though it is a free country. I'll just be an observer of this beautiful game of ours and pray to the Green Bay Gods that someone gets their heads out of their asses and heads start to role. I will also be stocking up on the PBR and or Miller Lite to drown my sorrows in. Hey we ain't going to the playoffs but at least we could play for a draft pick WOO HOO!!! By the way I have a couple of buddies of mine, one is a viking fan the other is a bear fan. The bear fan sent me a bears merchandise catalog with a note saying "in case I needed something to cheer me up I could look at this." The viking fan texted me to say that I could get a "cool" viking jersey on ebay. This is getting out of hand. Jared S Hey Jared, They say camaraderie and chemistry are everything... and we haven't see much of that, winning makes it easier and I would guess 13-3 last year covered up alot of things that were waiting to go wrong... like management putting it's foot down and sending BF out of town... BK ____________________________ "The Packers all but eliminated themselves from the playoffs Sunday when they lost to the Houston Texans..." Excuse me, but they were all but eliminated during the off-season when TT decide to start rebuilding again. Packer Jim Hey Packer Jim, TT has always wanted to rebuild since the moment he got here, I, like many Packer fans, wish TT would build a team to win a few playoff games in late January... BK ____________________________ wow - tough to accept that it's over. when's the draft? With the picks we'll get and then the picks we'll get from Favre, I bet TT can make it into about 100 6th and 7th round picks. Dallas Hey Dallas, Many of us are convinced TT wants every pick in the 7th round some year... to cement his legacy. BK ____________________________ Texas dome team wins in Lambeau in December and puts up 549 yards total offense. This is rock bottom. Hope they don't win another game... we need to get as high up in the draft as we can. cowcow Hey cowcow, lose out to up-draft and TT trades back down... you have observed the draft day routine of our GM, right? Of course it's one way of acquiring multiple 7th round picks... BK ____________________________ Oh man! Love 'Ted the Grinch'! Great job w/the graphics! Won't talk about today's game though. Still irritating me like a case of bad, lingering, heartburn....good grief! How many is that this year, losing @ the end of the game like this?! Let's at least end the year on a positive note to go into next season with, PLEASE! If we're lucky enough to win the next three, we can end this year @ .500 (better than nothing) Well, at least we have the opportunity to put the final nail in Detroit's coffin, with us playing them for the last game of the season. I don't see them winning any game in the next three weeks, so, I can rally behind that, I guess. (sigh) GO PACK! (please) Lady K Hey Lady K, it would say alot for the Packers to win out and finish 8-8... No reason not to expect them to. BK ____________________________ To: Ircink, Jeff Re: Boycotting the Pack
Your self-proclaimed "boycott" of the Green Bay Packers smacks of disingenuity. You can not boycott a franchise to which you never had loyalty. You, sir, are a Brett Favre fan, and have likely never been a Packer fan. You are welcome to that allegiance, but please do not disguise yourself as a Packer fan, former or otherwise. I do, however, agree with your assessment that we can not and will not ever know how this season would have transpired had Mr. Favre's services been secured in the interest of said franchise (the Green Bay Packers) instead of the New York Jets of the American Football Conference. Thank you for your participation, Duane in Almost God's Country ____________________________ To Jeff Ircink: In the words of Tom Petty: "Don't Come Around Here No More..." you made your decision. Showing up here with "I told you so's" is lame. Go to a Jets site. I will stick with the Pack as I have for the last 44 years and as I did with 70,000 plus other LOYAL fans this Sunday. Big Daddy ____________________________ Well that sucks, the Texanz game was another one of several that have been difficult to watch. Remembering the 70's and 80's however, I still would rather watch this team. I think Rogers is doing everything he can and everything that was expected. I think TT has provided the players to be competitive on the field, position by position we match up or are superior to the teams in our division and many in our conference. I think MM needs to SERIOUSLY review his staff and their effectiveness...Sanders, Dead! Shottenheimer, Dead! Stock, Dead! Neidermeyer, Dead! Whose with me!!!!! SCHRADES Hey Schrades, that must be why it sucks so much when the Packers have lost this year, it's never really been a total blow-out, always in the game, even leading the game late in the 4th... and... it sucks to be 5-8. BK ____________________________ It sure going to be one long cold winter. Yeah not much to talk about. No need too! LiferPackfan Hey LiferPackfan, No don't stop talking, please we need everyone's hot air to contribute to global warming... I guess it's easier for me living out here in southern California amongst all the Raiders fans... they think they win big every year, so they make a good model for us Packer fans in the coming months to follow. What? Packers Suck? Are you Joking??? We KICKED ASS THIS YEAR!!! Seems to be working for me already... BK ____________________________ SON OF A BITCH!!! Get rid of the D and, PACKERGOD go fuck yourself! Chris WI boy in FL ____________________________ I hate watching this team right now! I found more joy in watching the Lions almost beat the Queens! JONNY C Hey Jonny C, or the Saints almost beating the Bears last night... but it's OK, both have time to epic fail. BK ____________________________ Hey Beerkid, I'm sitting at my PC after watching another loss to a team (on paper) we should have handed their ass's to, but again the PACKERS and their coaching staff have disappointed. The FAT Lady is singing and the rest of the season will be played for players pride and our quest to see any post-season action is all for not. I have to pray to our Green and Gold God that we don't lose to da-Motor City Kitties after this dismal season is over in our regular season closer. My sister-in-law from California said it best today when she thought that Coach McCarthy did not take the Texans seriously and due to his piss-poor play calling and his (and Ted's) belief that Frost was the punter of the future we are sitting on the outside looking into the playoffs. After a 13-3 season and knocking on the door of another Super Bowl appearance in over 11 years we have become an embarrassment in our piss-poor division. I personally can not decide who to root for, da-queens or da-bears, but who ever shows up for the playoffs they will not go far. Ted Thompson and Coach McCarthy have driven this team into the ground and for you TT bleeding hearts you have to ask you selves, "WTF happened?" I know that injuries and a lack of leadership have contributed to our crappy performance this season, but so has McCarthy's play calling and LACK of Leadership. NO MORE EXCUSES MIKE... YOU SUCK! I do not mean to sound like a disgruntled vi-queen fan, but the officiating in the NFL this season has to be the worst I’ve seen in my lifetime. Aaron Kampman is being HELD every Fucking game and no one throws their piece of laundry. There were so many questionable calls against our beloved PACKERS today that the NFL ought to think about bringing in some new blood to officiate the games, say 20-30 year olds with better hearing and sight. The PACKERS should have won this division and perhaps ran for another S.B. Title, but until we see a "changing of he guard at Head Coach and G.M." we may never see it in my lifetime. So many poor decisions by TT and Mike "Not in the Right Mind Set" McCarthy this year. Yes, with their decision to convince #4 that it was time to retire, to their ultimate decision to tell him to take a hike after he searched his heart and wanted to return to the team and game that he so loves. We can only hope that TT doesn't Fuck up the 09 Draft and doesn't offer a Multi Year Contract to our new punter (Jeremy Kapinos) before HE is proven. Thompson and McCarthy need to go before we become the Detroit Lions of the NFC North. PACKER PAUL - Minneapolis, MN. ![]() Hey Packer Paul, we shall see, we shall see... BK ____________________________ I am absolutely convinced that NFL referees are paid off or are using their personal feelings to manipulate games. This is the third time I've watched an offensive holding penalty against the Pack late in the game change what should be the outcome. Furthermore, the replay shows NO offensive holding occured. GB's defense is lousy and when the Packers lose that's one thing. But I've seen this too many times and to too many teams. Ask San Diego how they feel about an earlier loss in the season. Guess what, the comittee that oversees the Referees told the ref he shouldn't have admitted his mistake. It's tough enough to win. I can accept when Green Bay is not a good team. But I can't accept when NFL referees destroy the integrity of the game I love. By the way, Aaron Rogers is just fine, in fact with more experience he'll be a fine quarterback. We need a strong defense, good special teams and honest referees. They need to start firing referees who make bad calls or fine them. At that level they are making calls that simply should not have been made; whether it be a mistake or manipulation. This issue goes far beyond the Packers. Trust me, I live in Minnesota as a Packer fan and I've seen it happen to other teams. We need a public outcry to revamp the NFL and make them accountable, the game we love is being destroyed. Enough. I've had enough. Boy, I could go on all day about this. I love the Packers but I also want them to earn what they win. The problem is when they earn it and the Referees intentionally take it away. Even Troy Aikman said Refs could call offensive holding almost every down so when they call it at a crucial time in the game it can change the outcome. How can I watch a sport that I love when I now know that it's rigged. Brad D Hey Brad, yeah the Ref's sucked, I wish the same standard was applied across the board towards both teams, we never seem to get those phantom holding calls on their O-lines... it's not rigged, but there is quite a bit of anti-cheesehead animosity floating around the country, and they're enjoying every bit of payback they can give at any moment, announcers, reporters, weather girls, and yes, Referees. | Sorry folks, didn't want to throw an "on hiatus sign" around anywhere, but after a steady week of exuberant amounts of liquids of highly questionable nutritional value to throw off the chains of non-green and gold events, ok, green and gold events had a small part in it, we're back. Packer Palace is back on schedule. Now just give me a few hours to go out and see what the hell is going on out here and what actually has been happening the last week, besides Tauscher on IR, and the show-down coming up against the Jags, oh, and actually check the email bins after a long week. Hey, no apologies from us, we don't subscribe to what one of our newest and dearest friend Aaron at Cheesehead TV calls the "you're a Packer blog, spend 5 minutes making up some inane post about the Pack" (my son, that path leads to the abyss and oblivion) and yet, what our other newest and dearest friend Corey at Cheesehead TV said "come on guys, Speak Out Spew Off is not enough" for weekly contribution... is correct also. So hang on, the Packers sort of suck, but time hasn't run out, the Fat Lady wants to crush our very souls and dance (the correct word is really, throw) her weight around on our Packer graves.... don't give in, we're back! What a week!! The Packers watch their postseason hopes all but disappear, and the vikes get what should be a 'gift game' with Detroit. (Of course, in '01 an 0-12 Lions team got their first win against the vikings...can history repeat itself??). Oh and I got to meet Zygi Wilf, Bobby Wade and Bernard Berrian--It's not everyday I get to shake hands with two millionaires and a billionaire!! Carl "Gator" Nelson |

Speak Out Spew Off...
____________________________________________We've lost our way, my children. You should have never let Brett go. For that, I condem you. Packer God ____________________________________________ This is like de ja vu. First and goal at the 5. Three runs into the heart of the defense - kick the fieldgoal. McCarthy, you are as dumb as a rock. Frank in Waterford ____________________________________________ I can think of one very good and obvious reason why Brett should have mentored Aaron without the intercession of a Gm, and that is HE IS YOUR TEAM MATE. I seem to recall Kurt Warner taking particular delight in ripping us a new one in a playoff game years back (you might remember it, the one in which Saint Favre was intercepted 6 times in one game)as a result of Favre treating him like a waterboy during Warners short stint in Green Bay. Freak Jet Favre and TT bashers, ya'll need a long walk through Packer teams of the 70's and 80's, (though I doubt your level of Packer loyalty could have withstood the misery of 29 years)before you ever opine on what does or does not make a good GM. We have one with a fine head, cue tip not withstanding, who actually played the damn game for years, and I seriously doubt many of you beer bellies would be wanting to tell TT your darkest feelings about him to his face. In a nutshell, STF UP. And TT was an imbecile last year for wanting that D line as deep as possible. Guess he knew what he was talking about after all. Oh and Brett wants Randy Moss. And TT actually apologized to the traitor Favre, even after assembling the finest array of talent at receiver in the league, including NE. What might help is to put a damn blow torch underneath the special teams coverage units, and good ol 50, the Hawk man needs to step it up several paces. Though he is as great a player as I have ever seen, and I go back to Jimmy Brown, so this is high praise indeed, I blame one component for our troubles this year, and it is the traitor, Jet Favre. For all the legend one championship in sixteen years, doesn't sound too legendary does it. Ray ____________________________________________ Our front 7 is pathetic. No other way to put it. It's depressing, watching another team move the ball at will. The season is now reduced to the possibility of sweeping the Bears, and making sure Detroit goes winless. Yippee. Ruppert ____________________________________________ You know what I miss? I miss the straight ahead football. I miss the sweep. Remember how sweet our sweep was. Number 4 could come up to the line and tell everyone we were running the sweep and they still could not stop it. I miss knowing that teams could not come to Lambeau and win. Most of all, I miss winning. Yup. You know what I hate watching? Zone blocking, the defense giving up the big play right when they can't, and AA Rod trying to shine the turds that MM sends into the game. I most hate seeing the "I have no idea what to do" look on MM face game after game. Coach Meathead is just that. Carolina should not have even been in this game. Okay I am done. I am going to watch the Jets game. I am loyal Packers thru and thru and won't stop watching my team. I had to really struggle on Monday night with switching over to watch Letterman. I should not EVER have to struggle with watching something else. I hate what TT and MM have done to my team. Go Pack!! Please beat SOMEBODY. Hamilton aka Sign Boy ____________________________________________ Ok so just about everything happened that I felt needed to happen. After drinking all day I will be careful and not break any windows in the house but our special teams ruined it for me today! MM you should have gone for it in the 4th.. but GDit we had em. Thanks center, for the turnover just before half you dick, and MM with our D,a field goal is no cushion retard!! Beerkid how are you? and how is the weather where you are? Its warm and rainy here, and thanks to the F-ing Packers I am pissed. TT I hate you but lets put together a Special Teams and coach that can get the job done. I love the Pack but this one hurt me and our chances at the playoffs! Heavy Moderation is right! Chris WI boy in FL ____________________________________________ Hey Beerkid, We should have won today's game. The play calling (again) was suspect and the last drive of ours should have resulted in the go ahead TD and not a field goal. I don't think Coach McCarthy was in "The Right F'n Mind Set" to call two running plays up the gut when we were knocking on the end zone's door. It seemed as though a few short passes in the red zone seemed to have worked earlier in the game (one for a two point conversion as you may recall). We can all thank Ted "The Village Idiot" for his contribution to today's loss also by letting Ryan go and keeping our current punter/Frost (Good move Teddy). Our special team's coordinator (Mike Stock) ought to be run out of town also (Along with McCarthy and Thompson). From the get-go, this season has been to just "fly by the seat of our pants" for Wins and if we see any type of post-season play, swell, but after a great start to the season I think Ted and Company was pleasantly surprised and they all looked like F'n Hero's, but the "Energizer Bunny" is slowly running out of juice and Ted is looking forward to the ProBowl festivities in Hawaii, the 09 NFL Draft and not at the task at hand, to WIN THE DIVISION. Unless we "run the table" we are F'd, you know it and I know it. But aren't you tired of PACKER seasons where we don't control our own destiny that we have to rely on another team tripping up in week 16 in order for the PACKERS to secure a wild card spot?? I am, last season was a treat. It's too late to think about the "would have been, should have been" scenarios with Thompson's STUPID decision to "pass" on Brett returning to the team he helped bring home a Lombardi Trophy to. And I can't help but to believe in my Green and Gold Heart that we would be sitting with a MUCH better record in this piss-poor division and possibly by week 14 we would have secured a playoff spot by winning the division (or sooner). Don't get me wrong, Aaron "Buck" Rodgers has played well above this PACKER fans expectations, but what this team is lacking is a LEADER (On both sides of the ball). With that being said, I will close by saying that today's loss should be placed squarely on the shoulders of our Head Coach. Thanks Mike for F'n up another game that we should have won with your stellar conservative approach to play calling. The FAT LADY isn't singing yet my friends, but she's warming up her cords. PACKER PAUL - Minneapolis, MN.____________________________________________ TT's Genius = Convincing Packer fans that 5-7 is building for the future. Ryan ____________________________________________ Jeez, rippin them apart with the pass, 1st down goal to go and we 'run' three times... an Elvis booboo ? If the ball is loose, fall on it not try to pick it up, lads. Pack rule Bobby from Scotland ____________________________________________ Yeah snow storm worked! NOT BF back there anymore! TT & MM are NOTHING with out BF! That's OBVIOUS! A-ROD needs to return all that $$$ He will NEVER play like he deserved it! CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE on your pride Erin! Yo draftfan - notice who is missing from good old MM team this year? that should put your winning percentages in perspective! Erin should have had a "good" season he inherited a good team, a retarded monkey could have had a "good" season. Queen's in 1st place - whoa I almost puked:o PBR MAN ____________________________________________ BeerKid: You almost nailed it. You had the whole scenario drawn up, but forgot that so far this year, the ball has not bounced the Packer's way. The Panthers won because every single thing that could go wrong..... did go wrong. Last year the Packers seemed like they were living a charmed life. Fumbles went their way. Packer injuries were minimal while opponents lost key players just in time to play the Packers Despite the fact that Favre did not play well against the Bears and Giants in cold weather, the weather was even more cooperative in 2007. The game against the Panthers showed how good Rogers could be when he is playing well. When that happens, the running game and passing game seem to click and they move the ball well. It also showed the McCarthy is still learning how to manage Rogers and the offense. It is obvious that Favre was a great improviser and could back up his choices. Rodgers is not being given that same amount of leeway. 2008 might be a year to sit home during the playoffs, but the Packers are still in pretty good shape for the long pull if they can get their crap together. draftfan ____________________________________________ The Forgotten "Fool" I think the Favre sycophants who blame every single shortcoming of the Packers' 2008 season on the Alliteration Brothers ("TT" and "MM") for "driving Brett Favre out of town" are forgetting something. Favre would not have made the special teams tackles that would have prevented the long returns that set up two back to back Panthers scores on Sunday. No, I believe it's time to face a different Demon in this, Mr. Mike Stock. I've always thought that the lack of a good return game was not necessarily for lack of good returners, but for lack of a good blocking scheme in front of the return man. Then I see the momentum-killing returns by the opposition, a not-unheard-of event even before, and I thought to myself, "Stock needs to be replaced in the offseason.' Now I read this http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/35244379.html from Bob McGinn, and I say, "Stock has to go! Now!" Duane in Almost God's Country ____________________________________________ Hey BEERKID, Just checking in as usual from western Nebraska, wishing I was sitting on my favorite bar stool at Anduzzi's. You know it is scary, Aaron Rodgers might be our best player. I like the kid. We need some serious help on the D-line. Time to quit wasting draft picks on WR and trade up to get the best up front on the D-line. Wore my Badger hat today to my daughters BBall game and people were like,,,,hey are you not a huge Husker fan... and of course I am. Its the Huskers, the Packers, and the Badgers. Would love to see a home and home with the Badgers and the Huskers!!!!!! Go Pack Go. That was painful Sunday. I told the boss (Mrs. Mellonhead) that if they didn't go for it on 4th and goal they would lose... Unfortunately I was right. Party on!!!! mellonhead ____________________________________________ The Packers will win out and go 9-7. This is gonna be awesome! moocow ____________________________________________ I turned off the Saints game in disgust. I just couldn't stomach it any longer. I did see TT in the skybox, and he looked like a petrified old man to me. IMO he is a snake, and I can take no pride in my team with a snake at the head. Even though it cost Brett physically, he took that young team TT assembled, and we quickly were contenders again. How many of the interceptions occurred when that young team of TT's did not finish their routes? I can't remember how many times Brett was sacked without a decent line, and always forced to try passes to get a score of any kind. Who wouldn't think of retiring when no effort was made to get decent receivers? Was that already TT's sick plan to force BF into retirement? I think TT was out of his mind angry when Brett wanted Randy Moss, and even offered some of his salary to get him. I think we would have had it all last year if Ron Wolf was still here. I don't think I appreciated Ron Wolf enough. Just like BF, he did his job for the team. They loved the Packers, TT loves himself! Fans getting behind AR is not the problem, accepting deceitful leadership is disloyal to our heritage, and I just can't do it to my beloved Packers. BeerKid - Still Pack For Life!

It's Packer Sunday and we'll be off to the bar (The Daily Pint in Santa Monica) to see what team the Packers have taken to Jacksonville. These 2 teams have had similar seasons, high expectations dashed by the reality of actually having to play the games each week.
