| If any of you missed the former QB of the Pack being interviewed by some baseball guy on HBO last night.... you can find an abbreviated summary from Aaron Wilson over at PFT - Favre: "My Intentions Are Not To Create Controversy" and the almost complete transcript over at the Insiders Blog at Press Gazette/PackerNews.com - The Expanded Brett Favre Transcript. I'm only going to say that for BF to compare his quitting on two teams to Vincent Lombardi actually retiring for a year as a coach, he was the Packers GM his last year in Green Bay, and then going on to resume his football career as the head coach of the Washington Redskins before succumbing to cancer really shows what a classless act BF has become. Now for my prediction... with BF on the Vikings there is no way that the Fat DT Williams Brothers will be suspended by the NFL. There is absolutely no way that the NFL Commish will allow the new feel good story of the year to be overshadowed by actually suspending those two for violating the CBA, besides, if BF is truly on the Vikes, no Judge in Minnesota will allow their Super Bowl pending season to crash without a major fight. Just a prediction... Lastly, a simple thanks to Packer Paul, Jim, Boz and everyone else who contributes to Packer Palace, we love you all. | Here's something of interest I ran across a few days ago from Real Scouts over at The Sporting News... Best of the best: NFL's top 25 players for '09 and although there's no Packers on the top-25, they do have the breakdown's for the top-20 at each position. You can find the individual links for each position along the article's left column as you scroll down. Head coach Mike McCarthy is 16th, defensive coordinator Dom Capers is rated 5th, with offensive coordinator Joe Philbin also at 16th. Last year, the Packers offense finished 5th in points, and 8th in yards per game and the Packers defense finished 22nd in points allowed, and 20th in points per game.  Packers players listed on offense: QB Aaron Rodgers - 14th, RB Ryan Grant - 18th, WR Greg Jennings - 9th, WR Donald Driver - 13th, and T Chad Clifton - 11th.Packers players listed on defense: CB Charles Woodson - 14th, CB Al Harris - 18th, S Nick Collins - 6th, DE Cullen Jenkins - 18th, OLB Aaron Kampman - 11th, ILB Nick Barnett - 17th and ILB A.J. Can't wait for August to roll around...maybe I'll catch the pre season game at the Kettle O Fish while I'm in Manhattan in August. Again, great place to go and watch the Pack, especially since the owner is from WI. Lots of Pack memorabilia, nice place right near the subway station. So, if Brett signs with the queens, does this mean that we are gonna have 'lil queenies' blogging here all da time? Oh well, it should be entertaining nonetheless. GO PACK GO!! Lady K ____________________________________________ Two things in regards to what Long Live the Pack said (see below). First of all, none of these rookies has played a down. We can call BJ a top-rated DT, but then again so was Steve Emtman and he turned out to suck. I may be totally cynical, but I hate it when people talk about how great their draft was before anyone has played a down. Secondly, and I know I will take huge amounts of crap for this because he is everyone's savior now, Aaron Rodgers has really done nothing. Are we better off with him? I don't even know. We were a 13-3 team, and he was handed the reigns and we won 6 games, 2 of which were against the most hapless team ever in the Lions. I'm not pro-Favre, I may have been at one point, but I really just want this to end, I want him to retire and go away. I just don't think we really know if the Packers have the players they need or not. I understand the want of them to win, but banking on rookies and a new defense just seems like such a bad idea. This made me laugh. All of PackerNation have gone through this before. BF will do what he feels like doing. He will sign with the Queens on his own schedule. He will meet no deadline. It’s summer 2008, TT decides to welcome Favre back, AR is back-up once again. May be fair to assume that the Packers finish w/a record similar to the Jets (defense, O-line and special teams play limit outcome a bit). Let’s see where we are today, now. Favre has retired with a bad shoulder but hints he may come back for another year. Everyone waits. Meanwhile, AR’s contract has expired and he signed elsewhere as a F/A (possibly in our division). The draft has come and gone. Instead of the top rated DT, we’re picking around #16. We pick the best D player available (who ever that would have been, I’m not looking it up to see who was there for the Jets). We don’t have that 3rd (Favre trade) to trade, so we didn’t get Mathews. Packers announce that if Favre doesn’t return, the starting QB will be the winner between Brohm and Flynn this year. The thought around headquarters is that “we were close, maybe a player or two will get us back” so the coaches that were fired are still Packers. (for the most part) So, currently, we’d be sitting around waiting yet again to see if Favre plays another year (the current Viking situation). We’re minus AR, Raji, and Mathews but have added a good player on D. Of course, F/Agency might have went differently, then again, the Vikes might have signed AR………. Spew Off Speak Out... It's The OTA's
| I don't know about any of you... but all I got out of the Packers OTA's recently was that Allen Barbre is working out primarily as the new Right Tackle. Last year's draft pick OLB Jeremy Thompson is apparently adapting well to the 3-4 defense and former DE and now OLB Aaron Kampman won't talk to the media. The speculation ranges from the "he's not adapting well" and "looks stiff" in these OTA's to "he's just annoyed with all the media..." angle to the his silence. I'm just going to pop another beer and move right along... to "wanna be back in the news" Fran Tarkenton. I don't need some vikqueen scrub who's 0-4 in Super Bowls to tell me how much my former beloved QB should play or not play, for who or not for whom, and frankly, if Brett Favre can still whing the ball around like early last year, more power to him. Play for the Vikes. Please...... and "twinkletoes" can go back to staring at his 1 NFL Championship ring... which was eventually their 1st Super Bowl loss so it doesn't really count as a champion-anything. Fran Tarkenton's attack on #4 was clearly a way for the Vi-Queens organization to take themselves off the hook about signing Brett Favre. Back in the day I am sure Francis was taking showers with vi-queen greats such as Coach Grant, Cocaine Carl Ehler, Jim "Wrong way" Marshall and Freddie the Foot Cox. Who out there thought that after Brett un-retired, only to be traded by the "Village Idiot" to the NYJ's that he was going to make it another 16-17 year career in the Big Apple? Brett knew that it wasn't going to be forever, so why get close to the team? When Francis came out of his cave on the Afghan border to give a radio rant about Brett I had all but forgotten that he was still among the living. I mean, WTF has he done since that outstanding (HA!) TV show of his from the 1980's, "That's Incredible!"?!? Brett still remains the guy you just want to kick back and have a few beers with and talk about football, family and hunting. Francis still remains one of only a few NFL QB's to have reached the "Big Show" 4 (FOUR) TIMES and choked on the big one when everything mattered. It was also a different game back then Francis. Perhaps Fran should look to the asshole in his "Ivory Tower" at 1265 Lombardi Avenue for blame for the preseason Mella-drama that played out last summer and perhaps have that beer or two first with Brett before passing judgment. So "lighten up Francis" and crawl back into your hole, your "Fifteen Minutes" in over 27 years are up. What's funnier than Fran's ramblings is the fact that Allen, and everybody else up here, thinks that just plugging Favre into the Queens QB spot is an automatic Lombardi Trophy. Nobody up here is even considering the fact that it could end horribly.  I loved the guy for all those years in Green Bay, but right now Favre is old, his shoulder is fried, and his playoff numbers are basically horrible over the last several years. The Queens will be more dangerous come December if Rosenfels has a year running the team than with a tiring Favre. I hope they sign him.
